Milwee Honor Band Clinic Information Sheet

We are proud to announce that Lyman Tri-M will be continuing the Milwee Honor Band clinic as part of our service and contribution to the arts programs in our area. This will be the second year of Lyman’s involvement in the program, and the first for Tri-M. In order to adequately prepare them for their upcoming events such as All County and Solo & Ensemble, members of Tri-M will be mentoring, tutoring, and modeling for Milwee band students. This is a great opportunity for the experienced musicians at Lyman to pass on their musical abilities and give back to the arts community.

Clinics will be held at Milwee Middle School, 1341 S Ronald Reagan Blvd, Longwood, FL 32750, from 4:00pm-5:30pm on the given dates.Mentors should be aware that the clinics will hinge on their ability to attend as often as possible, however attendance to all clinics is not required. A sign-in sheet will be provided before each clinic to ensure that we have enough mentors for each instrument group. Additionally, all mentors must sign up for the Dividends program in order to attend the clinics! In order to receive credit for the hours that we earn, we will log them through the Dividends portal. (Members who attended the clinic last year will demonstrate how to do this.)

Primarily, we will only have 4 clinics before All County auditions. During this time, our prime focus will be to prepare the Milwee students for their auditions. After this, we can begin to fine tune the students’ skills in preparation for Solo & Ensemble. The dates for the clinics are listed below:

Oct. 17th -- First clinic

Oct. 24th -- Second Clinic

Oct. 31st -- No Clinic due to Halloween

Nov. 7th -- Third Clinic

Nov. 14th -- Fourth Clinic --Middle School All County Auditions on the 15th

Nov. 28th -- Fifth Clinic

Dec. 5th -- No Clinic due to Milwee’s Concert

Dec. 12th -- Party/Get together to celebrate a successful Clinic Season -- both Lyman/Milwee students who attended at least 3 events are invited.

A typical clinic lesson should include time for the students to practice their fundamentals in addition to their music. To make this possible, a typical lesson plan for the clinic is provided below:

*Split into instrument groups

10 min. long tones/ breathing
