Discussion: Millville Lake weed problems/remediation

------

The MLPA's Mission is to keep our lake viable and to eliminate the weeds that are growing in abundance.

The MLPA Board of Directorssincerely appreciatesthe members who have paid their dues in the past years. Without you, Millville Lake will get to the point of not being usable. The 2015 weed survey that we had done has shown our lake to be inundated with weeds. To read this report, go to our website have aggressive plans for treating the weed situation thus maintaining the quality of the lake. These plans include starting the permitting process this year with treatment beginning in 2018.

Because of your membership, we have been able to accomplish the following during this past year:

✪We were able to re-acquire anall important 501(c)(3), US tax - exemption for non-profit organizations.

✪We have met with NH Congresswoman Ann Kuster and her staff, the former NH Senator Kelly Ayotte'sstaff and Chuck Morse, NH Senate president seeking funds to treat our lake.

In addition, we are soliciting funds from local banks and environmental grants as well as positioning ourselves for potential charitable gaming.

✪We have done much research, spoken to many people such as presidents of local lake associations to ascertain what they are doing with this same situation and have sought counsel many times from Amy Smagula, NH Department of Environmental Services lead plant limnologist. She did her own weed survey and has brought divers in to work in our lake. We continue to work with the town on the seasonal lake levels.

✪Going forward, our goal is to increase our membership thereby acquiring more funds so that we can rid Millville Lake of the weeds that are taking over the lake. We, as Board of Directors, have taken our job seriously, carefully balancing scientific data with long held opinions about using herbicides.

For people living on and near MillvilleLake, the MLPA has an eye on your property values. A lake which is not thriving because of neglect will ultimately effect the worth of your property.

✪The bottom line is that we need you to renew your membership and for others to become new members in this important work.

For many years our dues have been static -- $30 per year, the reality is that at that level we will never reach our goals. Our new dues tier levels are listed below:

✪Membership Tiers (tax deductible):

Tadpole Club - $30 Duck Club - $200

Turtle Club - $50 Swan Club - $500

Bass Club - $100 Blue Heron Club -over $500

Please make your tax deductible contribution to the maximum extent possible.

We are all stewards of this beautiful New Hampshire lake, and we need your help. We can't do it alone.

Attached is the MLPA Dues Payment form, please fill this out and return with your dues.
