INVITATION TO JOIN THE CAPE COD CHAPTER (005)
MOWW: The Military Order of World Wars is an organization founded in 1919 for commissioned officers of every branch of service. The Order’s leadership has included many important figures in our nation’s history such as Presidents Dwight Eisenhower, Harry Truman, Ronald Reagan, Herbert Hoover, and George H.W. Bush, General Douglas MacArthur and Admiral Ernest King. The Order was founded by General of the Armies John J. Pershing, who is a member of the Greater Boston Chapter as is President John F. Kennedy. We have been honored to enjoy the companionship of many men and women who have had important military careers and significant civic responsibilities.
CAPE COD CHAPTER In the past this was an extremely busy chapter with many companions taking an active role in a wide variety of activities. Unfortunately, as companions passed away, our ranks have diminished, and so have our activities. This is changing. Indeed, in the past two years we have been active participants in the Wreath Across America ceremonies at Bourne National Cemetery, we continue to work with Falmouth High School in the Pafford Essay Contest;a special program initiated by one of our chapter members. We also sponsor high school students for the Cape to attend the Youth Leadership Conference at NorwichUniversity in Vermont.
At the Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA) Commencement our chapter presented two awards (Deck and Engineering) to MMA graduates, and also provide a 1 year membership to MMAgraduates immediately following their commissioning, which last year took place on board USS Constitution.
We are very interested in doing more, perhaps with the Boy and Girls Scouts, but to do so we need to increase our membership.
OUR NATIONAL ORGANIZATION: As a member of the Order, you will receive our national magazine, Officer Review, which will keep you up-to-date on activities of National HQ and the many other MOWW Chapters. You will also have the opportunity to attend all national conventions, notice of which is contained in Officer Review.
If you are interested in finding out more about this great organization, please contact myself or any of the officers listed above. You may also visit the MOWW Homepage at wwwmilitaryorder.net
Fraternally yours.
