Seniors Press Report

WEEK -ENDING17th DECEMBER2017

On Thursday14th December the seniors held their fifth turkey trot stableford competition whenforty-five players took part; the senior section was very grateful to the ground staff for allowing buggies on the full eighteen holes which meant such a big field out playing.

This competition was played prior to the senior’s presentation and Christmas dinner when forty -eight sat down for an excellent meal prepared by Hayley and her staff. A full report will be published later.

The weather was dry for most of the competition with only the last few players getting caught in some heavy rain showers; there was a strong breeze blowing for all the round whichmade scoring very difficult.

The winner on the day was Gary Jelley with 37 points just beating the seniors new president Roy John on the back nine score.

The competition was counting for handicap purposes with the CSS 36 points; with the following changes to handicaps; Richard Brock 16 to 17; Trevor George 14 to 15; Roy John 19 back down to 18 (after being off 19 for two days) Brian Mitchell 13 back to 14; Richard Setterfield 7 up to 8.

In the two’s competition the kitty was shared by four players;

On Thursday 21st the seniors will be playing their lastturkey trotstableford competition of the year and will be the first competition for new senior’s captain Alan Dennison. The following week 28th December will be a stableford competition Whisky Trot.

On January 4th the John Winters Tankard competition will start which is played over ten selected Thursdays in January February and March with the best four scores out of the ten to count; with the top four players at the endwho will go into the hat for a knockout draw; with the semi- finals and finals to be played in April

Presentation was carried out by senior’s captain Phil Davies his last competition as seniors Captain.

MIDWEEK CLUB COMPETITION

On Tuesday 12th December because of the weather; and buggies restricted to the top nine holes only which meant that only twenty-two players took partin the club members stableford competition.

The winner was 20 handicapper Brian Keenwith 40 points; winning the competition by two clear points from Geoff Davies & R.J. Robertsboth with 38 points.
