Mild-Moderate Intervention Specialist ~ Certified ~ Special Education ~ Job Training Teacher


The Geauga County ESC, Vocational Programseeks a Mild-Moderate Intervention Specialist for a Job Training Program West. Teacher will be serving students in the Kenston, Newbury, Chagrin Falls, and West Geauga school district. Employer Job Sites will be located throughout Geauga County. Preferred candidates will possess the following skill sets:


1) Transition To Work Endorsement or currently pursuing endorsement
2) Knowledge of evidence based behavioral and social-emotional classroom management systems;
3) Ability to select and utilize technology to engage students within a community job site setting;
4) Skill in designing employability lessons and administering Age Appropriate Transition assessments aligned with the Job Training Standards;
5) Competency in the collection, compilation, analysis, and reporting of student data;
6) Ability to design and utilize assistive communication systems and strategies within a community job site setting;
7) Proficiency in completing Special Education compliance activities and IEP case management;
8) Willingness to offer parents daily communication and home support;

9) Willingness to offer daily communication and support to community employers to ensure satisfaction;
10) Knowledge of prompting hierarchy, utilization of behavioral strategies to prevent and respond to challenging behaviors, and comfort in implementation of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI training provided).

11) Ability to promote and maintain successful employment opportunities for students utilizing effective communication with team members including, but not limited to, parents, regular education teachers, district case managers, building administration, speech pathologist, occupational therapist, employers, job site managers, and program director.

The purpose of the Job Training Coordinating Programs is to provide a work environment where students can practice non-paid/paid pre-employment/soft skills and learn job tasks in a community work environment. The students in this program job train throughout the community for five (5) days, paid or non-paid at a variety of employment job sites throughout Geauga County. Students earn elective credits towards graduation requirements. Students will continue to learn and master appropriate employability skills such as communication and socialization, executive function and organization, following work routines, problem solving, self advocacy skill training, hygiene skill training (uniform), work speed and productivity rate, endurance, etc. on the actual job site.
