Employee Grant Application

The Midland ISD Education Foundation seeks to facilitate improvement in the academic outcomes of youths, pre-kindergarten through grade 12, in ways that will lead to academic success and enhanced opportunities later in life.

The objective of Grants for Great Minds is the potential impact a teacher will make towards a meaningful contribution to student learning.Train teachers that enhance and expand core curriculum above andbeyond the existing course of study.

ELIGIBILITY: MISD Classroom Teachers working to provide enhanced educational experiences for children pre-K- grade 12.MISD School Counselors and Staff who impact the classroom.

GRANT FOCUS:

The Foundation supports scholarship requests that have a potential for impact. The ideal applicant makes a meaningful contribution to student learning and the request mustdemonstrate this key position.

FUNDING INFORMATION:

Teachers and Staff: Typical funding range is up to $500 per grant request. Preference is given to classroom teachers. Students pursuing education degrees: Up to $1000 per grant request.

The Foundation hopes to retain all of our scholarship recipients for the benefit of MISD schools.

RESTRICTIONS:

The Foundation does not grant scholarship requests that:

  • fund superintendent certificates
  • fund educational leadership or administration
  • fund doctoral candidates
  • Approved awards for professional development activities, including college courses that are not for the purpose of pursuing a teaching degree or advanced degree in education or applicant’s teaching field, will be limited to the registration cost plus $200 in related expenses, not to exceed a total of $500 per application.
  • Approved awards for educational assistance will be limited to a maximum of $500 per semester. (“Summer” is one semester, regardless of the number of sessions during the summer).
  • Grants will not be funded in excess of the employee’s actual out-of-pocket expenses.

All MISD employees are encouraged to apply for grants to pursue professional development opportunities within their area of responsibility, a bachelor’s degree in education, an advanced degree in education or the applicant’s teaching field. Grants are subject to the availability of funds and will be awarded based on educational need of the applicant, benefit to MISD, and sponsor recommendation.
