  • Students who need a place to study and finish work will have a chance in the Academic Support that will be run in the Art room.

Student Learning Goals:

PCE is the acronym for Process, Create, and Evaluate, which gives middle school students the opportunity to hone skills in any given PCE class, and further their understanding of what artists and life-learners do. Students will be required in PCE Art to fill out a weekly rubric with me to make transparent all goals, behaviors, and work ethics. This rubric was designed to give students responsibility over themselves and teach them how to make goals and commit to goals and fulfill their goals for all projects and skills.

Grading Procedure:

PCE Art is a Pass or Fail course. Middle school students are graded each quarter of the school year for the work and participation in the PCE Art they attend.

Expectations for Students:

Students are expected to:

  • Come to class on time
  • Contribute/collaborate to class discussions
  • Participate in and acknowledge artistic behavior
  • Follow the Art room rules

We have three rules for the Art room-

  • Take care of people
  • Take care of stuff
  • Behave like an artist

-What does this mean? Playing and experimenting with art materials are artistic behaviors. Talking about art ideas with classmates is an artistic behavior. Making sketches first and not making sketches first are artistic behaviors. Artistic behaviors look like many things and art is not always being completed in every class or is always being finished. Artistic behavior is unique to each of us.

Academic Integrity Policy

We, as members of the Chelsea Middle and High School community value personal integrity and believe all aspects of cheating and/or plagiarism are not ethically or socially acceptable and will not be tolerated.

Artistic Integrity Policy

Students are encouraged to work from their own images, photos, and art inspirations at all times.Students are allowed to work from published or copyrighted images, but at all times the image must be significantly altered so that it does truly become the personal artistic voice of the student. The duplication of another person’s image, even in a different medium is not allowed. Students are encouraged to work directly from their own vision and unique personal imagination whether through direct observation, imagination, memory, with/without the aid of their own personal photographs, or any combination of the above.
