Middle East Social Studies Brochure Project (Choose one country)

Instructions: Students are to complete a BROCHURE which they will complete the MANDATORY SECTIONS and COMPLETE 5 from the ADDITIONAL section. Each section will be graded on Neatness, Color, Pictures and Content (information). The FINAL project presentation must have the following;

2.  Mandatory sections

3.  (5)Additional sections

4.  Bibliography

MANDATORY SECTION

1)  Maps- 2 (two)

Map A- Must shows all the physical features (rivers, mountains, lakes etc.) Latitude and Longitude lines include Map Key

Map B- Must be a political map (Boundary of the country) include Map Key

2)  FLAG (Meaning of the Flag)

3)  Facts of the Country

5)  History of Country- ONE Historical Event. Event must be a paragraph in explanation: Detailing When, Why, How... It happened … Who was involved?

Additional Section: Choose Five (5) sections from the Additional List. Each section will be graded. (Include pictures)

1)  Appearance: Clothing (special occasions)

a.  Jewelry

b.  Colors

c.  Hair styles

2) Belief System: religion, superstitions, Religious buildings

a. Religious Celebrations- dates, Reasons

b. Religious leaders- jobs

3) Kind of environment: Location, climate, physical features, and vegetation.

4) Entertainment: art, music, crafts, dances, songs, storytelling.

5) Food: types, spices, special occasions, preparation, how people eat, number of meals per day

6) Government: laws, values, titles, social roles and order.

7) Housing: style, material, use of rooms, shape, size, color, arrangement of furniture.

8) Education: Schools, rules … school day/calendar, uniforms.

9) Places of Interest: Travel Brochure of tourist spots to visit in the country.

10) Sport: rules, famous/sportsman/sportswoman, competitions

11) Other Information that you find interesting.
