GRADUATION INFORMATION - 2017

Eligibility for Graduation

  • All students are eligible to participate in the Michael Power · St. Joseph Graduation Ceremony onThursdayJune 29, 2017 who have successfully completedOSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma) requirements:

1.26 credits as of February 2017and are registered in four courses in semester 2 at MPSJ, (or 3 courses at MPSJ and 1 course at night school).

2.27 credits as of February 2017 and are registered in three courses in semester 2 (at MPSJ or at night school).

3.28 credits as of February 2017 and are registered in three courses in semester 2 (at MPSJ or at night school).

4.Successful completion of OSSLT (Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test)

  • All students must have completed 40 hours of Community Service by June5 2017 to be eligible to participate in the Graduation Ceremony. The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) will not be awarded unless the 40 hours have been completed and documented by Guidance staff. Students who receive an offer of admission from a College or University will find their offer will be withdrawn if they have not completed the 40 hours of Community Service. Tracking sheets are available from the Guidance Secretary and should be returned to the Guidance Secretary by June 5, 2017.

Night School

  • Students who were registered in a Semester 1 night school course must bring a copy of the final report card to guidance as soon as it is received. This applies to both TCDSB and Non-TCDSB schools.
  • Students who take a Semester 2 night school course must bring a copy of the mid-term report to Guidance as soon as it is received.

The MPSJSchool Letter

  • The purpose of the MPSJSchool Letter is to recognize and reward individual contributions made to the school community. The school letter distinguishes a student’s standard of participation, excellent achievement and leadership in the school community. The school letter is awarded to graduating students at the Graduation Ceremony. Completed applications are to be submitted to the Main Office no later thanJune 12, 2017.

Registration for Graduation

  • Students are asked to registerfor Graduation March 27-April 21during both lunches in the Forum
  • The $100.00Graduation fee covers costs associated with rental of the venue (Church on the Queensway), purchase of gowns, mortar boards, transportation of materials and equipment from MPSJ to the venue, student portfolios for certificates, flowers, printing (certificates, programs, guest passes, invitations), On-Site Photography Service, the graduation luncheon, and other incidental items.

Note to Parents/Guardians of Graduates

Due to the large number of graduates and the length of the ceremony the Michael Power/St. Joseph Graduation Committee has arranged to have a professional photographer take a picture of your son/daughter receiving his/her diploma. The cost of the picture is included in the graduation registration ceremony fee. Information regarding photos (receiving and additional copies) will be provided at the ceremony.

Consequently, no one will be permitted to approach the stage area to take pictures.

Wednesday June 28at 10:00 am

  • Only graduates attend this morning
  • Gowns, mortarboards, and guest passes will be distributed after the luncheon.
  • Students must have completed the grade 12 Exit Survey on MyBlueprint in order to pick up their gown and tickets for the graduation ceremony.
