We will also have prayer each morning and show and tell. Children will learn a new scripture verse each month through music. Each craft will help in improving motor skills and expanding creativity! Each week your child will bring home his/her craft project. Also, an art portfolio will be sent home at semester’s end. Each student will need to provide a drawing pad for the semester. / $5

Vicki Winchester / This is an introduction to ballet: vocabulary, beginner steps, stretches, and musical awareness. We will work on taking turns, sharing, listening to instructions/directions, and interacting with other students. Students will need leotards, tights, and skirt. They also need ballet slippers. House shoes from Wal-Mart will not work. The teacher has a dance supply store in Cullman and may bring discounted slippers to the first class if anyone is interested. A list of shoe sizes would help. There will be no homework. You can take this class again if you have already taken it.

*Adria Latta, student instructor / With the help of the adult leaders, Adria Latta will be instructing the students on how to twirl. Adria has been twirling on Competition teams for 5 years with Southern starlets in Cullman. She also placed first in her division in one baton solo at Nationals in July 2012. Her dance team placed 2nd in the nation. Adria will be starting at basic tricks and working her way up to more advanced tricks, rolls and tosses. This review will help all girls be at the same starting place. The girls will learn a routine to perform at the end of the school year. The girls will need to supply their own baton. These can be purchased at Emiron Music in Decatur. Batons should be the length of the students arm from the pit of the arm to just past the fingertips. The larger tip/ball of the baton should be past their fingertips to allow room for growth. If you have questions, / $20

Beginner Piano Group Lessons Grades 1-3. This class will have limited availability. This will be like having a piano lesson, but will be in a group setting. Students will need to own and bring each week a keyboard (with at least 36 keys- the more the better) with stand. Each student will receive their own set of books (cost of books is included in the class cost and will be theirs to keep at the end of the year). They will also be expected to practice assigned lessons at home during the week. I generally recommend that children this age practice 15 minutes a day, 5 days a week. We will cover keyboard playing basics as well as music theory, rhythm and technique. Limit: 9 / $45 for first semester

What your 1st and 2nd Grader Needs to Know

Helper: Veronica Cummings / The purpose of the class is to introduce material from a range of academic subjects while familiarizing young students with the structure of a classroom setting. There will be homework every week, and students will be encouraged to participate in school fairs. Please do not submit applications for younger children, even if you think they may qualify. This has not worked well in the past. However, 3rd graders who need extra help are VERY welcome to join. This class will help them get on track. This class will be too easy for typical 3rd graders.Students will need to bring: pencils, 1 pack of notebook paper, 25 sheets of copy paper, colored pencils. / $5

I will send home a worksheet each week covering the day’s lessons for reinforcement. We will cover the scope and sequence for the average 1st and 2nd grade math requirements. Carla Jackson / This class is for beginners as well as 2nd and 3rd year students. Projects will be according to the number of years you have taken the class. 2nd and 3rd year students will learn new and different techniques and do more involved projects.
Students will need to bring a sewing machine, basic sewing kit (scissors, long pins, extra bobbins, machine needles, seam ripper, seam gauge, Hand sewing needles and white and black thread). Students will also need to provide the fabric, thread and other notions needed for each project. / $25
