MFR SMP SUPPORT GUIDANCE
-AnSMP Council must be established, per MCO 1700.36A, prior to requesting any funding support.
-All requests must be submitted 10-14 days prior to the day of the event. SMP Councils rate (2) Recreational Outings per Fiscal Year. QOL and Community Involvement support will be in addition to the allocated Recreation events, and should carry the same unit emphasis.
-Request forms must be signed by the unitSEA and CO/I&I/OIC and submitted via email to the MFR Semper Fit Director (SFD).
-A quote must be obtained for everything associated with the event (detailed on vendor letterhead), vendor POC, and must be TAX EXEMPT. If requested vendor cannot provide a quote without taxes included, or they are unable to accept credit cards directly (not third party billed – PayPal, phone fees, etc.) then a different vendor must be used. This must be determined PRIOR to submitting the request.
Eligibility Requirements:
-Only AD/AR Single Marines or Geo-Bachelors attached to unit or Bn/Squadron TO (no ADOS or SMCR)
-Participant roster must be attached with rank, name, last 4 of SSN
-SEA/CO are eligible regardless of marital status in order to demonstrate Sr. Enlisted support
Event Fees:
-Less than $2,500, MFR Semper Fit will make payment directly to vendor, upon review and approval by MFR SFD, with our GCPC
-Requests of more than $2,500, will be at MFR SFD’s discretion and will require 45-60 days notice
-Please make every attempt not to exceed $2,500. This will allow other units the opportunity to utilize this program and funds, and will create the quickest possible turnaround time for your request
-Lodging is not authorized. Transportation may be authorized, per MFR SFD approval

Quality of Life (QOL):
Issues/concerns and/or initiatives which involve primarily those things that single Marines can directly or indirectly influence to enhance their morale, living environment, and personal growth/development.
•Cooking workshops, museum tours, financial planning workshops, etc.
Community Involvement:
Activities may include Red Cross blood drives, VA home visits, adopt-a-highway, mentoring in public schools, Special Olympics, and community-wide special events, etc. Involvement in the community brings recognition to the SMP and provides the volunteers with a positive and healthy alternative for the use of their leisure time. Many activities may qualify individual service members for recognition under the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal criteria.
Recreation:
Activities provide healthy alternatives for the positive use of leisure time. These activities enhance physical fitness; provide opportunities for social interaction, life-skills development, and cultural awareness.
•Cycling, camping, fishing, skiing, hiking, archery, mountaineering, sporting events, etc.
•Any other activities, as determined by SFD, that support the Semper Fit Program
•High Risk activities areNOT authorized; determined by MFR SFD
