POSITION: Communications Intern (Spring/Summer 2016)

JOB DESCRIPTION:The Metropolitan Golf Association, located in Elmsford, N.Y., is seeking a Communications Intern to contribute to all areas of communications. This is a prime opportunity to work closely with communications professionals and gain valuable experience in the fields of media relations, Web site operations, print and digital publishing, and tournament administration. He/she must possess the following qualities:

■ Strong writing and communications skills

■ Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop and InDesign), and Quark software

■ Ability to work on PC and Mac platforms

■ Familiarity with multimedia equipment such as tablets and smartphones, computers, SLR cameras, video cameras, and photo scanners

■ Ability to travel by car throughout tri-state area and work long days on occasion

■ Working knowledge of/interest in golf

The person will be part of the MGA’s Communications department, and is expected to work in close collaboration with colleagues.The position’s primary dutiesinclude:

■ Write and produce press releases, media guides, and other digital/print publications

■ AssistMGA Communications staff on-site at MGA tournaments

■ Compile and process tournament results

■ Perform basic office duties such as filing, unloading/loading of equipment, prepare mailings, etc.

■ Update content of social media platforms as needed

■ Provide editorial support (photo research, fact-checking) for The Met Golfer magazine and Met Golfer EXTRA

■ Research and prepare materials for tournament press guides

COMPENSATION:Monthly stipend and mileage reimbursement for all travel
