1.0OBJECTIVE:

1.1This method statement is to describe, establish cleaning, checking, replacement of insulators (any voltage level 33 or 11kV)

1.1.1Addition to above: checking/breaking/remarking jumpers/binding wires. Checking of all connection terminals of any pole mounted equipment including surge Diverter set.

1.1.2Replacement Supply Anti-Climbing guard wires, Danger Labels & coloring boards where required.

1.2Supporting inspection and plan detailing the quality verifications performed by the Contractor shall be developed.

1.3All stages of Construction shall be controlled by inspection of Kahramaa.

3.0RESPONSIBILITIES:

3.1The Project Manager shall be responsible for ensuring that all services are carried out to the required job specification as per the above reference documents, according to the relevant contract and client instruction.

3.2The Project Engineer shall be responsible for the execution of works along with the Site Engineers, Site Supervisors/Foreman and Linemen to ensure all activities pertaining to their discipline are carried out in compliance with the documents as stipulated above in Item No. 2.0.

3.3The Quality Control Engineer shall be responsible to monitor the implementation and effectiveness of quality control requirement as necessary and reference to time programmed.

4.0METHOD OF WORK:

4.1Shut down procedure:

4.1.1 Before commencement of the work shut will be organized, adopting Kahramaa procedures and regulations.

4.1.2The required necessary permissions from the involved concerned departments/authorities.

4.1.3After the shut down competent person (Site Engineer) Physically Inspection of source (it should be off) Conduct test through live line tester to ensure line is dead (On voltage) and fixed the Portable Earth both side of line and also fixed same line in two more side in middle all activitieswill be carried out in the present of Kahramaa representative.

4.1.4Before arrangement of start any activity checks the weather (Temperature) if it is OK then start the work.

4.2Execution of work:

4.2.1After the fixing of Earth competent person (Site Engineer) physically inspection of all line with Kahramaa representative and start the job with his team (with the approval of Kahramaa representative).

4.2.2Approved Linemen and Site Engineer start the job by the help of Tower wagon or Leader for climb on Poles and Inspection the Insulators, Anti Climbing Guard, Barbed Wire, Danger Label (English and Arabic) With Clamp, Phase Identification Plates (Red, Yellow & Blue with Clamp, and Binding Stirrup Binding Stirrup (When ever it applicable) with necessary PPE.

4.2.3Competent person (Site Engineer) if found any defective insulators then he will identify to Kahramaa Representative verify defective insulators or other needful work to be carried out to Kahramaa representative.

4.2.4If any Insulator found damage after verification issue it from Kahramaa and Change it.

4.2.5Install the pull lift on each phase of conductor which linemen will be start the maintenance job.

4.2.6After installation of pull lift open the conductor from each Insulator one by one.

4.2.7After open the conductor clean the each Insulator as pre Kahramaa approved procedure.

4.2.8After Cleaning Rebind the Conductor with the new Binding wire and Binding strip where required.

4.2.9After completion of 4.2.8 team will be move to other pole and comply 4.2.2 with 4.2.8.

4.2.10Replacement of Anti- climbing guard with barbed wire, Danger Label (English Arabic), Phase Identification Plates (Red, Yellow & Blue) and barbed wire as per side requirement as per Kahramaa specifications with the approval of Kahramaa representative.

4.3Commissioning of work:

4.3.1Required work will be carried out under the permit of work system in accordance of Kahramaa specified instructions, procedures & definitions in contract.

4.3.2After completion of all maintenance works Site Engineer (contactor) and Kahramaa representative Inspection the whole line and remove the earth from all places where it was installed.

4.3.3Cancelation Permit.

4.4Commissioning check :

The following Testing equipment use in re-commissioning.

4.4.1Earth Resistance Testers

For Re-check exiting earth.

4.4.2 Multi meters

4.4.3For checking of voltage in line.

4.4.41000 volts insulation Resistance testers

For overhead line insulation Resistance test.

4.4.5Live line testers

For checking of voltage in Overhead line.

4.4.6Phase Sequence Meter

For checking for Phase sequence of the overhead line.

4.5Collection of Material form KM Store:

4.5.1After inspection, a material request for required materials will be forwarded(with the quantity mentioned in report) would be made to the KM material section.

4.5.2After all approvals, material will be collected from KM store.

4.6Reports:

4.6.1After Completion of one Line maintenance report will be submittedto KM by the contractor.

Notes: All the steps works shall be inspected by Kahramaa and should be informed before starting any activity with 48 hours at least before.

7.0SAFETY AND ACCIDENT PREVENTION:

7.1All workers shall wear headgear and footwear (earplugs, masks and eye protection whenever required)

7.2Safety education briefing of all employees prior to starting about the associated hazard and safe way for execution of the job.

7.3Any worker using joining compound, will comply with the instructions form each pack.
