Madeleine Taylor Scholarship Application Form
The purpose of the Madeleine Taylor scholarship is to support a research higher degree candidate or postgraduate coursework student to undertake research activities in women’s studies in the areas of sociology or anthropology. The scholarship is a research grant of a minimum of $1000 and a maximum of $2250.
The scholarship is open to a research higher degree (RHD) candidates or postgraduate coursework students in the School of Social Science, who are undertaking research activities in women’s studies in the areas of sociology or anthropology.
Eligibility
The scholarship is open to RHD candidates or postgraduate coursework students who undertake research activities in women’s studies in the areas of sociology or anthropology.
· RHD candidates must have passed their confirmation milestone to be eligible.
· Postgraduate coursework students must have completed one semester of study to be eligible.
Selection Criteria
Applicants will be ranked on the basis of:
· Academic achievement and potential for scholastic success; and
· the applicant’s research as it relates to women’s studies; and
· the significance and relevance of the proposed use of the scholarship to the applicant’s research.
Postgraduate coursework students must also demonstrate:
· Achievement of an overall GPA of 5.5 for studies completed in suite; and
· completion of listed prerequisite/s for thesis or dissertation; and
· provide a well-developed research proposal (to eventually use for thesis or dissertation) and;
· intention to complete thesis or dissertation in subsequent semester.
Tenure
The Scholarship is a one off payment and applies to the year of award.
Scholarship obligations
The recipient of the scholarship must:
· Include, in any paper that is published and in the thesis that is produced as a result of the research conducted while the recipient holds the scholarship, a statement of the research activities made possible by holding the scholarship; and
· submit a short report on the outcomes and benefits of the scholarship after the funds have been spent; and
· present a seminar in the School of Social Science on the research activities undertaken as a holder of the scholarship. For RHD candidates, the seminar may function as a milestone seminar.

While University staff both observe and respect students’ rights to privacy and the confidentiality of personal information, all records created in managing scholarships are subject to the Freedom of Information Act 1992.
