Clinton High School will be administering the ACT on Saturday, April 13. Please be prompt in arriving at CHS NO LATER THAN 7:55. You will need to bring the following with you: Your test center admission ticket, Photo identification. You will notbe admitted to test without it. (Your admission ticket alone is not sufficient identification.), Sharpened soft lead No. 2 pencils with good erasers (no mechanical pencils or ink pens), A permitted calculator, if you wish to use one on the Mathematics Test. Not all calculator models are permitted. If you use a prohibited calculator, such as the TI-89, you will be dismissed and your answer document will not be scored.

Do notbring any of the following: books, dictionaries, notes, scratch paper, or other aids, highlight pens, colored pens or pencils, or correction fluid/tape, anyelectronic device other than a permitted calculator (examples include timer, cell phone, media player, iPad, headphones, camera), or reading material.

STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENT:

1.The Arrow Players will be performing GracelandApril 16th and 19th at 6 pm and Greater TunaApril 16th and 19th at 7:30. Tickets are available for purchase from Mrs. Jiles in the front office. They are $5 each. Please come out and enjoy a night of humor!!

2.ANCHOR CLUB: There are several service projects to sign up for in Mrs. Berry's room. Please do not interrupt a class to sign up! Don't forget that you must have THREE service credits!

3.Tryouts for the 2013-2014 High School Boys Basketball Team will be held Monday, April 29, and Tuesday, April 30. Tryout times will be 4:00-5:30, both days in the CHS gym. In order to tryout, you must have a physical on file in the athletic office or bring a current physical with you to tryouts. Also, you must have a parent consent form completely filled out with a signature from your parent or guardian. If you are a high school student, you may pick up a parent consent form in the front office of CHS. If you are at Sumner Hill, you may pick up a parent consent form from Coach Tunberg.

4.Thank you to all who helped raise money for the Superhero Skate-a-thon! We raised $1383.53 for Batson Children's Hospital!

5.Directions to the Castle in Raymond for Prom: Take Clinton Raymond Road to Raymond. At the four way stop at Hinds Community College, take a right on to Hinds Boulevard. Go 1.7 miles to Pine Hill Drive. Take a left on to Pine Hill Drive. The Castle will be on your right. The address is 1479 Pine Hill Drive, Raymond, MS 39154.

7.Mother-Daughter Dinner will be on Monday, April 22 in the CHS Cafeteria for Senior Girls. Tickets are $30 for dinner. One ticket will cover you and your mother and/or guardian. Tickets will be sold on Monday, April 15th and Tuesday, April 16th from Mrs. Tompkins and Ms. Nance.

8.History club members come by and see the revised list of points. Also, brewer is taking up money and permission slips for the New Orleans trip. Must have 30 points to go. History club dinner will be April 18. come by and sign up for your historical figure.

9.Any FEA seniors with a 75 average in ALL classes are invited to participate in the Booknic at Clinton Park on Friday, April 12. See Mrs. Ottis or Mrs. Greene to pick up a form. More information can be found posted on the FEA bulletin board.

10.6th LUNCH-If you do not have a lunch from home or a tray from the cafeteria, you can not sit at a table.

11.A recruiter from Hinds Community College will be in the Commons during lunch hours on Monday, April 15th.

12.CPSD is collecting pre-orders for a Clinton Arrows specialty car tag. The beautiful tag design was created by Computer Graphics Technology teacher Tempress Holly, and features our distinctive red Arrow logo. 13.Do you have books at home that you have outgrown and no longer want? Consider donating to the "Clinton Reads" children's book drive. We are trying to collect 6,000 new or gently used children's books this spring. Donated books will be sorted and given to Clinton students in grades K-5 at the end of the school year, in hopes that kids will read more during the slow summer months. Books may be dropped off at CHS and many other locations around town. Read more here:

GUIDANCE OFFICE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Any student that needs a letter of recommendation from their counselor must complete a Counselor Recommendation Packet prior to requesting a recommendation letter. The packet must be fully completed in order for a recommendation letter to be written. Students must allow 5 working days for completion. SCHOLARSHIPS

The spring semester is here and it is time for graduating seniors to apply for student financial aid.

The Kiwanis Club of Clinton is offering two CHS graduating seniors scholarships. One is for $1,000 and the second will be a minimum of $500. Application information can be found in the counseling office. Deadline is April 22nd.

The Junior Civic League of Clinton is offering a scholarship to a 2013 graduate. Applications are in the Counselor’s office. The deadline is April 19th.

The Labonte’ Woman’s Club of Clinton will award a $500.00 scholarship to a 2013 Clinton High School female graduate. The winner will be selected on her academic record, honors, participation in organizations, community service, financial need and person essay. Applications are in the Counselor’s office and the deadline is April 12th.

The Mississippi Municipal League (MML) is proud to announce their annual scholarship program. A $2000 scholarship is open to seniors who plan to attend an accredited college in Mississippi. A second $2000 scholarship is restricted to the children or grandchildren of Mississippi Municipal officials and city employees. A third $2000 scholarship is restricted to children or grandchildren of employees or elected officials of Mississippi municipalities that are members of the MMSC Liability Plan or the Workers Compensation Group. Applications are in the Counselor’s office and an essay is required. Deadline is Friday, May 17th.

The Art Council of Clinton will be awarding one scholarship in the amount of $1000 to a senior art student displaying advanced artistic talent. The scholarship is open to all artistic genres including but not limited to: visual arts, dance, musical performance, literary, and dramatic performance. The Lott Leadership Institute at the University of Mississippi is please to announce that the annual Lott Leadership Institute for High School Students is now taking nominations for the two 2013 sessions.
