CEO REPORT: September 2014
1. CITY MOU:
September 22-Facade Improvement Program: The city application has been presented to the new Attorney for review. Once it is approved for distribution, it will be given to the chamber to present to perspective members to take advantage of. It is on hold until approved.
- Sign Ordinance: City thanked the Chamber for their recommendations. The report has been passed on to the City planners and will be reviewed and taken into consideration.
_ ShopMenifee.biz: the city is requesting we move forward with the Business license directory "section" to fulfill the contractual obligation. Then they will promote the sight on their end. Jim Diaz and Tony Amatulli were present in the meeting.

Hey Dorothy, just wanted to inform you that whatever you're doing there at the chamber is working because we are looking at an 83% renewal rate from your members. Our national average is around 65%-70%. We have found usually the renewal rate correlates somewhat to the relationships between the chamber and its members...good job!

FYI, seriously, good job, not all chambers in the country have that going for them!

4. City Birthdays: 127 Vendors signed up. Chamber had a booth- 10x10 space with e-zy up, chairs, signage, table,tablecloth &staff. Distributing Maps/Directories/event information/applications. Ambassadors booth provided to share information. The event took place Saturday, October 4, 2014 in the parking lot at Mt. San Jacinto College. Local businesses and service organizations had the opportunity to set up vendor booths to promote their organizations, sell food and display other items.Vendors submitted an application to the Chamber of Commerce and had a City of Menifee business license to secure a space at the event. It was hot, but went smooth. Thank you to all who particpated and help setup.
5. Community Partners Committee: Creating a Community Calendar within the city of Menifee for non-profits to partner with during the upcoming Holiday Season. The City is undergoing a new web site design for all non-profits to utilize and list their events."Just Serve" website is up and running. This website is backed by the City for allcommunities partners to list their volunteer needs. You may post needs like a "Help Wanted" billboard.
6. SCORE-Certified Mike Fisher is in the Chamber on the 2nd Monday for approximately 4 hours of each month for schedule face to face mentoring appointments.
7. SBDC-Business Consultant Karla Gonzalez is in the Chamber office every other Tuesday. She occupy's the office for a full back to back schedule workday in conjunction with our City Contracts she provides a full detailed report to the city

9. EWDC Luncheon- An Economic Update on Southwest California by Gene Wunderlich
9/18/2014 11:30 A.M. - 1:30 P.M. promoting event. This monthly luncheonsprovided members of our business and civic communities the opportunity to network and keep up to date on current issues and events that affect our valley, with special emphasis on the issues that impact our businesses. Keynote speakers address a wide array of topics throughout the year, valuable information and resources are presented and government officials and representatives of private-sector agencies are available for input.

10. Mixer-Wickerd Farms- Pumpkin Patch was filled with excited members who came out to enjoy the fall festivities. Julie and Jack Wickerd were pleased with the attendance (102) and were able to mingle with old friends and discuss the new Farmers Market. City Councilman John Denver and Tom Fuhrman, and Jeff Wyman were also out to enjoy the night. From the board we had Tony Amatulli and Luis Hutchins.

* Worked with caterer Skip Thomas to get a great price got him down to $9.00 per person including tips and paper products for the meal, confirmed with him that he will be doing the catering, he gave us the menu which I gave you a copy of.
* band selected Cougrzz Rock Band and all girl band who are terrific, got their price down from $1,000 to $600.00. Contract signed and check done and mailed to Cougrzz Rock Band September 22, 2014
*Starting on going out first to previous sponsors from last year to see if they are interested in being a sponsor again this year. All letters to give them the Sponsorship for this year's event have been sent, awaiting reply, Betty Walker of Menifee Valley Escrow was the first to respond, we will be sending her an invoice. Sponsors confirmed are: Abbott Labs $300 (we have their money, Betty Walker, Menifee Valley Escrow $500.00 we are billing her
* Did new form for CID application which is the new procedure for Supervisor Ashley, asking for $500.00 sponsorship for this event, this was part of the $10,100.00 I asked for on this annual CID application. Other monies if approved will be applied to other events that were outlined in my request, but $500.00 of this request was designed for this event.
*Awaiting to hear back from the sponsors for last year if they are interested in again wanting to be a sponsor and if so, for which category and how much. Once I get them in place I will be reaching out to new sponsors to fill all the sponsor slots and once that is done we will add their logos and create the flyer and the tickets.
* Once sponsors are in place the next steps would be asking for inkind donations for silent auction and selling the tickets out.

*Working on the Panel for the Lunch Session: "HOW I DID IT" will feature very successful women in various businesses who will share their stories on how they reached the successes they are enjoying, have feelers out to some dynamic women. Two breakout sessions one at 10:30 in the morning with two hands on topics that people will be able to select one to be a part of and the other one at 2:15, so far the morning first breakout will be a hands on for social media working on selecting experts in these fields, and the afternoon one will have an expert on Follow Up Strategies as one of the segments.
* Last year's Sponsors have been contacted and/or sent new Sponsorship packages for this year.
* Did the new CID Annual Application which is the new procedure to ask for funds from Supervisor Ashley and asked for 500.00 as part of the funds for this event which will also give them 4 tickets to the event.
* Once all the speakers in place and all the sponsors in place logos will be creating the flyer and start selling the tickets
14. Ambassador Rally- Committee to look into hosting it at Storm Stadium.
15.GRAND OPENING/RIBBON CUTTING/GROUND BREAKING/RETIREMENTS/CELEBRATIONS
Applebees- The staff at the new Applebee's restaurant in the Newport Towne Center has completed training and served a select group of customers during its soft opener on Saturday. Everything is ready for the official opening of the restaurant doors Monday at 11 a.m.Staffed by more than 100 employees -- most of them Menifee area residents who accepted the newly created jobs -- Applebee's offers a wide menu of food choices, a fully stocked bar, and sports events on TV screens throughout the restaurant. The dining area is decorated with photos and memorabilia representing Menifee's unique heritage.Food will be served daily until midnight and the bar is open until 2 a.m. Applebee's is located just west of Haun Road on Newport Road. The parking lot fills up fast, so patrons are urged to leave themselves plenty of time for their dining experience. Takeout orders are also available.

16. Candidate Forum- Chamber hosted event at Kay Cencerios Civic Center. Over 100 Menifee-eans gathered to hear the candidates running for Menifee City Council.
17. Southern California Edison-September 29th spoke on behalf of Chamber Member SCE at a Fontana Hearing regarding rate increases and tiered payment structure.
18. Student of the Month- Tony Amatulli and I represented and congratulated the students on behalf of the chamber. Sent press releases to Valley News, Press Enterprise, Menifee Buzz and Menifee 24/7.
19. Bylaws- sent to Committee for final proof. Then will print and have available for distribution.
20. Senator Mike Morrell Office- Tom Wilson-Chamber provides opportunity for the Community to come in and meet their District Representative!!! Office Hours for Senator Mike Morrell, California Legislature23rdSenate District are Every 2ndTuesday of each month from 10:00am - 12:00pm, Mr. Tom Wilson, a District Staff Representative, holds regular office hours here at the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce office for the 23rd Senate District. This is an excellent opportunity for all constituents toreceive information regarding legislative action and have their questions answered. He had 8 visitors in the month of September.

Yanik Gozlan will reach out to you in the next couple of days in an effort to collect all of the website data and information that you have created for Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce throughout the partnership.
