Membership of in Control Scotlandfor local authorities

Who we are and what do we do?

InControlScotlandis a independent registered charity which exists to support and promote the development of a sustainable system of self directed support in Scotland. We believe people are experts in their own lives and should be supported to take control, make choices and fulfill their roles as citizens by directing their own support. Our work is funded through membership fees, training and consultancy income and currently from Scottish Government grants for projects to support the implementation of the national strategy and Self Directed Support Act.

InControlScotland works with local authorities to support the cultural and systems change required tosuccessfully implementa local system of self directed support. Our approach is to work co-operatively alongside local authorities, provider organisations, people who use social care services and their families. We believe that only by really working together in this way will we be able to establish a sustainable system of self directed support that is both effective and efficient.

Our work with local authorities focusses on:

  • developing the local capacity, knowledge, experience and belief to support people to be in control and get more of the lives and support they want.
  • Sharing experience, tools, systems and practice that works
  • Creating helpful connections between organisations and people

Since our inception, we have worked with more than half the local authorities in Scotland to promote and develop this way of working.

The higher fee in the first year of membership reflects the expectation that we would provide more intensive support during this first year and also that we value the experience and ongoing partnership with authorities who choose to re-new their membership.

If your local authority would like to become a member or re-new your membership, please complete the form attached and we will then send you an invoice for payment.

In addition to the standard membership support described above, extra help, should you want it, can be commissioned through inControlScotland, our Associates and partners.
