You are invited to apply to become a Member of the Scottish Guarantee Company known as Kyle and Lochalsh Community Trust (KLCT) which is registered as a charity by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator.

The Purposes of KLCT are as follows:

1)to manage community land and associated assets for the benefit of the Community, and particularly (but not necessarily exclusively) young people therein, following principles of sustainable development, where sustainable development means development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

2)to provide, or assist in providing, recreational facilities, and/or organising recreational activities, available to members of the Community and public at large with the object of improving the conditions of life of the Community.

3)to advance community development, including urban or rural regeneration within the Community.

4)to advance the education of the Community about its environment, culture, heritage and/or history.

5)to advance environmental protection or improvement including preservation, sustainable development and conservation of the natural environment, the maintenance, improvement or provision of environmental amenities for the community and/or the preservation of buildings or sites of architectural, historic or other importance to the community.

Ordinary membership is FREE but restricted to those individuals aged 18 and over who:

(a) are ordinarily resident in the Community (ie within the post codes of IV40 (excluding Raasay), IV52, IV53 and postcode IV41 8PG); and

(b) are entitled to vote at a local government election in a polling district that includes the Community or part of it; and

(c) who support the Purposes.

Ordinary membership will entitle you to nominate and be nominated as a Director, to vote at General Meetings and have your say regarding company policy or direction. In the unlikely event of KLCT having to wind up during the period of your membership, no more than £1 would become payable.
