MEMBERS OF THE 2018-2019 KING'S BRASS TOUR
TIM ZIMMERMAN - Director of The King's Brass, Tim received his graduate degree in Trumpet Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University, in Baltimore, Maryland. He has been a member of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and has assisted with a number of orchestras in the Midwest and East Coast. For thirteen years, Tim served as Chairman of the Music Department at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. He has also taught at Taylor and Indiana Wesleyan Universities in central Indiana. Tim and his wife Beckie, have four grown children and live in sunny Fort Myers, Florida.
GREGORY ALLEY –Currently, Gregory is the trumpet instructor at Calvin College and Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Prior to teaching, he was a member of the West Point Band in New York for twenty-three years. His music degrees are from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Michigan State University. Gregory plays in the Holland Symphony Orchestra, has been a soloist with the Dallas Symphony, Hudson Valley Bachfest Orchestra, and the Montclair Chamber Ensemble. He and his wife Deb, have four grown daughters and live in Hudsonville, Michigan.
DAN DAVIS – Dan received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Currently, he is pursuing his Masterof Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Tennessee Tech University. As the graduate assistant for the tuba/euphonium studio, his responsibilities include teaching, holding the tuba chair in the “Brass Arts” faculty brass quintet and playing with the Bryan Symphony Orchestra. Originally from San Jose, California, Dan currently lives in Cookeville, Tennessee, where he enjoys watching movies and playing with his cat, Jax.
MATT DUEPPEN– Originally from Los Angeles, California, Matt is presently living in Tallahassee, Florida. He attends Florida State University, where he is a Graduate Teaching Assistant studying under Dr. Christopher Moore. Matt received his Masterin Music degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, where he studied with former King’s Brass member, Dr. Brian Shook. He received his Bachelor’sdegree from California State University in Northridge. Matt wasa featured soloist at the 2018 Reno Jazz Festival and a presenter at the 2017 University of Arizona’s Graduate Musicology Conference. He loves traveling, working out, spending time with his family and friends, and running with his dog Grover.
ROBERT EARHART– Rob received his Bachelor of Music degree in trombone performance from the University of Hartford’s Hartt School. As an orchestral musician, he has performed with the Hartt, Nutmeg, Manchester, and Wesleyan University Symphony Orchestras. Rob loves chamber musicand has played with the Hartt 20/20 and Hot Stuff Brass Quintets,as well as the Crimson Brass Quartet. He has studied with Haim Avitsur, John D. Rojak, Matthew Russo, and Andrew Malloy. Rob teaches at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut and Sharps Flats Music Conservatory in Ridgefield, Connecticut. In his free time, he enjoys reading classic literature and exploring the great outdoors.
SUNGHWAN KIM – Sunghwan holds two Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance and Collaborative Piano from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He also graduated summa cum laude from his undergraduate studies at the Chugye University for the Arts in Korea. Sunghwan studied music composition at the Hanyang University and served as a pianist in the Republic of Korea Air Force Band. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance at Ohio State University. Currently living in Columbus, Ohio, Sunghwan dreams of one day publishing his own hymn arrangement book for piano.
CASEY KLINT - Casey received his Master of Music degree in Trombone Performance from the University of Maryland and his undergraduate performance degree from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. As a result of the high-quality performances he heard as a young man in his native Chicago, and the encouragement of his Chicago Symphony mentors, he dedicated himself to pursuing a career as a professional trombonist. Casey is currently living in Phoenix, Arizona, and working as a freelance musician and brass teacher. When not in the practice room, he works diligently at taking strokes off of his golf game.
PAUL MILLETTE–Hailing from frosty North Dakota, Paul received his Master of Music degree in Percussion Performancefrom the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music after completed his undergraduate performance degree from the University of North Dakota. Paul performs frequently as a freelance drummer, jazz vibraphonist, orchestral percussionist, as well as playing with his percussion quartet four/one. Paul recently served as a percussion teaching assistant at the Interlochen Arts Camp, in Traverse City, Michigan. He has a passion for new music and has been involved in composing, commissioning, and premiering new works for percussion.
JONAH TROUT – Jonah is a senior music performance major at the Eastman School of Music where he studies with Larry Zalkind. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he grew up playing with the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra and the River City Youth Brass Band. Jonah is co-founder of the student-run brass band, Upstate Brass, and has played with the Eastman Wind Ensemble, Philharmonia, New Jazz, Lab Band, and Trombone Choir. He regularly plays with Symphoria in Syracuse and has been on the music staff at Camp of the Woods in Speculator, New York. Jonah is a Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and Primanti Brothers fan.
