Melbourne Village Hall
Instructions for Persons Using the Hall
We ask you to follow a few instructions to ensure your Village Hall is kept in good condition.
Gaining access to the hall
Keys are available from the village shop or the Melbourne Arms pub. Please ensure you return the keys to the place you got them from. If the shop or pub is shut, you can put the keys through their letterbox.
AS A FIRE PRECAUTION, BOTH THE MAIN HALL AND KITCHEN DOORS MUST BE UNLOCKED WHEN ANYONE IS ON THE PREMISES.
Lighting and heating
Light switches can be found in the entrance hall, for the main hall they are in the bay to the right as you enter, and in the kitchen. They are tucked into the bay on the right hand side. Heater switches can be found in the bay to the right of the main hall as you enter. They are tucked into the bay on the left hand side. The attached floor-plan shows locations of all equipment and switches,
Please ensure that everything is switched off before you leave.
Tables and chairs
Tables - if you use any from the trolley in the main hall alcove, please wipe them, collapse and stack back on the trolley when you are finished.
Chairs – when you are finished please stack the chairs in the alcove in the main hall.
Hall floor
Try to avoid water spillage on the wooden floor as this causes damage.
Lift any objects, including chairs, rather than dragging them as this may damage the wood floor.
Kitchen
If you have booked the kitchen you may use the appliances and the water heater. Please ensure they are clean and switched off before you leave. All surfaces must be wiped down.
Rubbish
Non recyclable waste - there is a waste bin in the kitchen. Please ensure you empty this into the green bin outside the kitchen door.
Recyclable waste - please place this in the blue bin outside the kitchen door.
First Aid Boxes and Accident Book
First aid boxes can be found on the kitchen wall and main hall wall.
Report any accident, in the Accident Book which is on top of the freezer in the kitchen.
Reporting Problems or Breakages
If there are any problems or breakages please make a note in the Damage Report Book which is on the kitchen notice board to the right of the door as you enter.
IMPORTANT – Before You Leave
Please complete the Exit Checklist which is at the foot of the Floor Plan (overleaf). This should be posted through the Village Hall letter box.
The keys should be returned to where you got them from, the Village Shop or The Melbourne Arms. Please ensure you have locked the kitchen and main hall doors.
