The ReadiStep Assessment

SUBJECT: ReadiStep Registration

DATE: October 1, 2014

Meigs Middle School is designated by College Board as a ReadiStep Assessment Center. This means that Meigs students registering to take the ReadiStep will take the assessment at Meigs during a regular school day on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. This test is not mandatory and is only offered for interested students.

The ReadiStep Assessment is a standardized test developed by Collegeboard, the makers of the PSAT and SAT. According to Collegeboard the ReadiStep Assessment is the first step in a series of assessments that prepares students to take PSAT and SAT. Juniors in high school typically take the PSAT; however, many students take the PSAT in middle school. Students at Meigs Middle School will have the opportunity to take the PSAT as an 8th grader.

Briefly, the ReadiStep measures: 1) critical reading skills; 2) math problem-solving skills; and, 3) writing skills. Parents will receive a detailed scoring report. With the report, students will have free access to a college and career planning website called My Road.

Seating is limited as we have only 85 examination spaces available. We will register 6th and 7th grade students that wish to take the ReadiStep starting at 7:00 A.M. outside Guidance on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014. Registration will be on a first come first served basis. To register to take the ReadiStep, students must do the following on- Tuesday morning, Oct. 14, 2014:

1.  Complete, detach, and bring the form below on Tuesday morning, Oct. 14, 2014 at 7:00; and:

2.  Bring a non-refundable check for $8.00 made out to Meigs Middle School.
