Meeting was called to order at 6:15 pm

There were 37 members in attendance.

Opening:

o  President Setareh Gable welcomed everyone and introduced herself as the PTO President for the 2015-2016 school year. The Executive Committee introduced themselves, and she invited everyone to get started with dinner.

President’s Report:

o  Jackets are on sale now for all students in 3rd to 11 grade and through September 18th.

o  Next Tuesday September 15th we will hold the General PTO Meeting

o  Soccer Field is moving forward pending resolution of a zoning issue. PTO donated $14K towards it last year

o  Possible fundraiser is an HSB cookbook

o  Possible purchase this year for the school is an electronic marquee

o  This year Stem Festival will be separate from Spring Festival – Stem will be held with the Science Fair

Treasurer’s Report:

o  A copy of the proposed budget was passed to all and Setareh went over the items. We have a projected $20,151 in income listed and $17,414 in expenses.

Secretary’s Report:

o  We have approximately 210 members and the membership is open all year

Events Calendar:

o  September 8 – Members only spaghetti night (PTO lead)

o  September 15th – 1st General Meeting we will raffle a Kindle Fire

o  October 8th – (School Lead) Passport Night

o  October 23rd – (PTO Lead) Movie Night on the lawn

o  November 13th – Roller Skating Party – (PTO Lead)

o  December - Polar Express (School Lead)

o  January 2016– Science Fair /Stem Festival (School Lead) and Chili cook off (PTO lead)

o  February 2016 – Nothing planned yet- one option is to have a Gallery/Art show event featuring photography, drawings, and other art submissions from the school. This can be a silent auction as well.

o  March 2016 – Spring Break – so not planning anything big – could do something simple like an ice cream party.

o  April 23, 2016– (PTO lead) – Spring Festival

o  May 2nd – 6th – Teacher Appreciation Week

o  May – Staff Appreciation Luncheon (PTO lead)

Business Outreach

o  Request from Mr. Gecit for anyone working for or aware of a local business that school can partner with for guest speakers, internship and job shadowing. Contact Mr. Gecit if you have any suggestions.

Open Positions for Election

o  Treasurer – is in charge of Budget

o  Secretary – maintains the membership count, takes and tracks the minutes

o  Both Carolyn Coleman and Maria Martinez ran unopposed so both were re-elected for the 2015-2016 school year.

o  We need someone to take care of the Bulletin Board – member would be responsible for keeping the board up to date and pretty.

2015-2016 Budget

o  The Budget was adopted unanimously

Paw Dads

o  James explained that Paw Dad’s help out during the school day, they provide a male presence while helping with drop off and pick up times. He asked that whoever is interested to please contact him.
