Minutes:Minutes of May 1, 2017 were approved.

Budget & Finance:

Bank Balance at Citibank as of May 31, 2017: $16,523.34; as of today: $16,898.54.

Membership:1,678 Individuals have renewed for 2017 (compared to 1,639 at this time last year) and there are 62 Clubs/Organizations (compared to 62 at this time last year)

President’s Report:

Alex Cuozzo reported that there will be an outreach event at the end of the year.

Health Update: Rich Degnanreported that Harry Pennyis making some progress.

Grievance Procedures Update: Grievance meeting scheduled for August 18, 2017.

TrackTownUSA Summer Series: The finals and a road race will be on Thursday, July 6, 2017. J. R. Honerkamp Consulting, LLC is sponsoring youth tickets at no charge. $10 tickets will be available for HS coaches, parents, and alums.

National Athletic Board of Review (NABR): A communication from Sarah Gilfoy (NABR) is looking for individuals to sit on grievance panels. Contact Alex Cuozzo with the names of any candidates who wish to be nominated.

New Business:

LITF Association Convention: The Committee will consist of Rob Lemke, Ron Nardo, and Kevin Arloff. Depending on availability, the venue will be Hofstra University on either Friday, September 22, 2017 or Friday, September 29, 2017.

Committee Reports:

Standing Sport Committees:

LDR: Alex Cuozzo reported that LITF has received a second payment of $2,500 from sponsor Jonas Chiropractic. Two new races may be added to the Grand Prix schedule next year. Hope Runs Here 5k is scheduled for this Sunday, June 11 in Shirley; followed by the Diamond Dash on Saturday, June 17; Massapequa Firecracker on June 25; Bellmore Striders Independence Day on July 4, and the Women’s Run on July 8 will be located at an alternate site.

A decision was made regarding a new team to score LITF Grand Prix events. William Reitz will report individual and team results and Pamela Lee will have access to the LITF management database.

There are some prospects, but no definite, venues for cross-country. Nassau County wants LITF to maintain the races within Nassau County.

Race Walking: Maryann Harvey reported that at the USATF 5k Race Walk Championships at Jennings Landing, Albany, NY on June 4, 2017, Maria Michta-Coffey (22:50) placed first in the women’s 5k division and Kayla Shapiro placed second in the Junior Women’s 5k.

Mountain Ultra & Trail: Carl Grossbard reported that the last ultra, 6Hour 60th Birthday Run, is scheduled for Sunday, October 15, 2017 in Sunken Meadow State Park. Ultra Runner of the Year will be determined after that event has taken place.

Masters Athletics: Robert Lemke reported that there was a good turnout for the indoor masters competition.

A listing of all meets (national, world, and senior games) has been submitted to Cici Hirsch for posting.

Youth Athletics: Sheryl Hall reported that registration for the Youth Association Championship on June 18, 2017, at Great Neck Middle School will close on Tuesday, June 13 and three teams are registered. Costs at this location included $928 for the facility, $253 for buildings and grounds custodial, $350 for security coverage, and an extra charge for steeplechase.

Track & Field: Richard Degnan reported meets are scheduled for Valley Stream North (7/5), Huntington (7/12), Island Trees (pending 7/19), Hauppauge (Association Meet 7/26), and Sachem (possible 8/2).

Sunday clinics are planned for Island Trees.

Para-Athletics: Fred Benlein reported that he is working on expansion of USATF membership. He is proposing a field day that will bring together new and young college coaches.

Standing Administrative Committees:

Officials: George Erker reportedthat staffing the summer meets has been a challenge. The deadline to respond for availability is May 31, 2017.

Coaching Education: Fred Benlein reported that the USATF Level 1 Coaching Clinic will be held on July 14-16, 2017 at Nassau Community College.

Records: None.

Outreach: Ronald Nardo reported that the booth at the Long Island Marathon Expo in May was closed because Nassau County objected to Jonas Chiropractic as a plan sponsor and wanted the sponsor name removed from the banner. There was a question regarding a charge for being the medical director.

Alex Cuozzo, Lori Mangual, and Ron Nardo went to Forest City Park on June 16, 2017 where an outreach event took place for 85 High School students.

Publicity: Lori Mangual reported that she contacted Mindy Davidson regarding setting up a tent at the Marcum Workplace Challenge on Tuesday, July 25, 2017.

Sports Medicine: Jon DeGorterreported that his next article has been submitted to the webmaster. There will be a link to sports medicine from the home page.

Newsletter: Deadline for submissions is August 18, 2017.

Annual Meeting Announcement: Must be posted 30 days prior to the meeting.

Next meeting: Monday, August 28, 2017. There will be September 4, 2017 meeting.
