Review of Minutes:
Minutes were read from the December 14, 2015 meeting.
Emily Collins made a motion to approve and Gina Jones second the motion.
We were unable to meet during the month of January due to inclement weather. We tried on several occasions to reschedule.
Questions and Concerns:
- Can the afternoon announcements be made later than 2 p.m. to limit the amount of classroom interruptions.
Mr. Barnwell agreed and is trying to get all intercoms working and have the volume turned up loader. The SIT team agreed to announce that only important announcements will be made in the afternoons if needed.
- Can teachers and assistants come to work if the roads near the school are clear?
If the school is closed, no one should be working. It can be a liability for the school. If the school is on a delay, you can come into work.
- What is the policy about boots (cowboy) on the gym floor?
Mr. Barnwell suggested adding an amendment to the student handbook about wearing boots on the gym floor. He will add a message on the Remind for students to wear tennis shoes on the gym floor.
- Do we get Comp Time for working the Parent/Student ballgame for PTA?
Mr. Barnwell said that was a total volunteer event, but Comp Time is given to tutoring, etc.
SIP Progress
Mr. Barnwell and Mrs. Beavers will be meeting with teachers to review data on reading and math. There will be some things we implement this year and will carry over into the next school year.

Tami Henson has removed herself from the nominees because she is working on renewing her National Boards. Allison Gaines has removed herself because she has too much going on in her personal life.
Box Top Money
Last year, we voted 75% to athletics and 25% to buy books for the book room.
We have 2 checks as of right now around $1600 in total.
The Athletic Department has not been able to do a bigger fundraiser because Ms. Carriker and Mr. Scott are full time educators.
$1200 and $400 have been collected from Box Tops. Gina Jones and Jeanette Oldham are in charge of Box Tops.
For the 2015-2016 school year, all SIT teams members voted unanimously to give 100% of the Box Top money will go to the athletic department.
We will vote year to year about Box Top money and where the funds will be allocated.

Mr. Barnwell wants to use the money allotted per student to have this come one day. We receive $8 per elementary student $10 per middle school student. The set up and activities will cost around $1700. Mr. Barnwell asked for SIT members to ask our colleagues what their thoughts are about having the mobile planetarium to come to the school.
Additional Items
Mr. Barnwell suggested ideas for the Perfect Attendance drawing at the end of the year. The committee talked about getting a bike for the students in grades K-4 and a remote controlled device for the students in grades 5-8.
On March 14, 2016, Madison Hayes will be coming. This is now an online process.
Next SIT Meeting will be on Monday, March 21, 2016 tentatively.
