4. THE FUTURE OF THE IDDRG
4.1. Document on definition of the IDDRG
A new version of the booklet with the proposed alterations will be send around and comments can be made after that. Once approved by the exco, copies will be send to the national secretaries.
4.2. Organisation
An intensive discussion has taken place on the organisation of the IDDRG, focussing on a number of items.
Executive Committee
The question was raised if it is necessary to have convenors as part of the exco. It was decided that session chairmen can be appointed from year to year out of the Exco members. It was therefore decided to have only Vice Presidents and no longer convenors as exco members.
Succession plan for the present exco members:
EJ retires 1st September 2006
NT is still active
AR; no objections if someone wants to take over tressure, at present there is no volunteer, possibly the next new member
FJL: a lot of years to go
RK: still a number of years to go
MS: has to resign, because of change of function. Has asked to nominate someone from NADDRG, Ron oldaat, may be a good candidate
BL: does not favour to do long trips anymore, but will try to come to Porto
HH 2007 50th anniversary of JDDRG; likes to change after that
NL has a long way to go before retirement
Council
Since the change of the conference/working group structure, there has not been a council meeting and the council is not functioning anymore as such. In order to improve participation from the membership countries, it was decided not to start organising a general council meetings again, as not all national groups operate as in the old days. Instead a short note of the minutes will be send to the national secretaries. Membership influence should also be realised by nominating each of the present VP's to be responsible for the member countries in their region. This VP will be responsible for the contacts with these member countries. They will consul the national secretaries a number times a year.
It was also suggested to have a look at the NADDRG; they have extensive rules for the organisation on their website.
Financial system
The question was raised if it was necessary to change the financial system to for instance an IDDRG personal membership or through participation. It was decided not to change the financial system at present, but to increase bonds with the membership countries in order to secure future contributions.
4.3. National groups update
On specific countries the following remarks were made:
- Benelux; has not been active for a long time
- UK: has not been active for a long time
- Spain: Labein wants to be more active in the IDDRG. RK will link the national secretary of Madrid with Labein.
-Italy: has not been active for a long time
- New European: there are a number of opportunities. We will focus our effort around IDDRG 2007 in Hungary.
- China: no news
- Korea; links with Japanese plasticity society will be used tr re-establish the contacts.
5. IDDRG 2005 FRANCE
The organisation of the IDDR2005 has been excellent: especially the location is magnificent. There are 116 participants (Germany was 160) and 76 papers. The financial results are expected to be positive.
A full list of participants will be generated on 21-06 and distributed.
NB will send her presentation on IDDRG2005 to NL, so it can be attached to the minutes. NL will update the IDDRG attendance list and send these addresses to Portugal. These names will not be published on the IDDRG website.
Only 6 companies are present at the Exhibition; last Friday there were 3 last minute cancellations.
NB will produce as CD of the proceedings for the library.
5.1 Publication of IDDRG best papers
It is proposed to publish the best papers in the International Journal of Forming processes; it has been agreed to contact 10-15 papers for permission. The idea is to generate a special edition of the paper with IDDRG recognition. International Sheet Metal magazine is another option for this. AC will contact the editor. Co-operation wit an US technical (not scientific) Sheet Metal Forming magazine is also possible. The editor was present in Ann Arbor 2000; he will be contacted by MS. Both MS as AC will ask for a possibility for an advertisement for the next IDDRG conference.
All will send their preferred 10-15 paper selections to AC
There has been no reaction of the IRDRI library on requests for old papers. This is probably caused by internal organisational issues around Jim Reed. This depends on the policy of the University of Barry; so at this moment there is an unclear status. To check the present status we will do 1 enquiry and cc MS in.
6. IDDRG 2006 PORTUGAL
Portugal gave a presentation on their plans for the 2006 event. The leaflet is ready and has been distributed. The website has still to be set up. Experience from prof Boudeau, the Checklist of MS and the list of Sindelfingen will be send to AS. Personal approach to generate attendance has proven to be successful. The leaflets will be sent to national secretaries as well as the direct contact list.
There will be a fixed fee for the conference, with no increase the price after deadline, because one package is preferred. Possibly a student rate at 1/3 of the normal rate will be introduced.
7. IDDRG 2007 HUNGARY, IDDRG 2008
The tentative date for the IDDRG 2007 in Hungary is 21-23 May. This date will be checked against holidays and other conferences. The event will take place in Budapest.
For 2008 Sweden has been suggested as host country.
8. WEBSITE
The IDDRG is quite active; there are many visitors.
Interesting links will be asked through the national secretaries; MT will take a list to the next Exco meeting.
9. FINANCE
21 national groups have paid their contribution.
6 have not paid yet. Italy + Slovakia are 2 years behind, South Africa 4 years. At present there is 21.175 Euro on the account.
9. ISO 12004 revision
The New ISO 12004 letter has been send to many people. A meeting with Nuby was held before the NADDRG. This Thursday/Friday will be an ad hoc meeting on this based on the comments from the US. HH, Carlson and Geoffroy will attend this meeting.
Both a simple and a more advanced method will be proposed.
10. ANY OTHER BUSINESS
With grate gratitude for their effort to the IDDRG we said goodbye to MS and HK as exco members and wish them all the best.
