Meeting Minutes Tuesday May 12th, 2015

Call to Order: 8:00PM

Welcome:

  1. The pledge to the flag was followed by an opening prayer. Members’ contribution to the evening social fund. Treasurer Gary Sanderson reminded all that $10 is the contribution for each meeting to cover social expenses. If you don’t drink, that is your problem.
  2. Brian Manning was sworn in as FSSP Secretary replacing Mike Darcy who is resigning to take on a new professional position. Brian will serve for the remainder of Mike’s unexpired term and will be up for reelection at the end of 2015. The President and membership offered their thanks to Mike for his great contribution to the FSSP as Secretary and member of the organization.
  3. Lawrence Coyne was sworn in a FSSP Chaplain.

Guests:

No new members were present. When you are at your next meeting see Gary Sanderson and pick up your Challenge Coin and lapel pin. Mugs will be inscribed with your name and Bill Healy will bring them to a future meeting as well.

Attendance:

Dues: $50 annual dues are WAY past due for 2015. Notifications will be sent to members who are past due which can now be paid online at FSSPhunterdon.com

New paid members will receive a crystal mug with the FSSP inscription and date of their personal original membership in FSSP. To accomplish this, Bill Healy needs a complete roster of new members.

Correspondence: Secretary Brian Manning

  1. FSSP have been invited to the opening of the Hunterdon Success Center in Flemington on May 14th 2016 where the FSSP organization will be honored for their contributions to the center. All welcome.
  2. Thanks received from Mayor Kovach and Town of Clinton for flags donated for 2015 FSSP St. Patrick’s Parade.
  3. $525 in matching funds donations received via Truist website. Thanks to those who generously donated through their workplaces. Members were encouraged to seek out if their companies offered similar charitable matches.

Gary was on vacation in Florida. Bank Account status. $18,910.

Funding Committee: Pat Barrett

  1. $639 and $300 in Storage fees
  2. $1300 in Car insurance

Golf outing webpage now active. Includes pitch letters for donations and payment online capabilities.

Significant updates are complete including: all forms and info you could need; golf outing info, online payment process, and the member directory will go in the “members only” section. Password is “dickhead”. A mobile friendly version of the site is also available.

Event updates:

2015 Golf Outing July 17 at Beaver Brook $135/$150 pp

Ken Oldam gave a report extolling all members to do the following right away:

  1. Send in requests for 4-somes with payments asap
  2. Obtain prizes asap for the auction (most important fund raiser of the outing)
  3. Obtain hole sponsors (another important fund raiser for the outing)
  4. Obtain teenagers to assist with setup/running/selling raffle tickets etc. Service hours!

A separate meeting of the Golf Outing organizing committee will be held soon. All welcome.

Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day Party

Frank Gallagher and John McGourty are soliciting ideas and dates for an event to mark the halfway mark to the next St. Patrick’s day in 2016. Suggestion to hold event at Hunterdon Arts Center on 9/20/2015. Fees: $750. Warren Distributors have offered beer donation. The membership voted to support continued planning for the event.

New Business:

  1. Brian Manning and Lawrence Coyne are now Secretary and Chaplain of FSSP respectively.

  1. Bob Junge announced a 10 mile march event and is seeking to put together a team.
  2. Larry Coyne reported progress on establishing a FSSP funeral protocol. The first very substantial draft is going to be edited down to about 2 pages with the help of the executive committee.
  3. It was noted Fr. Joe Murphy is recovering from quintuple bypass surgery
  4. Tom Kochinowski noted the 99th anniversary of the execution of Irish Revolutionary and Socialist James Connolly by the British following the Easter Rising of 1916. Grievously wounded, he was tied to a chair and shot by his executioners.A true son and patriot of Ireland (even if he was born in Scotland!), you can read more about him here:
  1. Brian Manning invited the membership to celebrate his 50th birthday on July 18th 2015 at his home at 7 Barlow Drive in Califon.
  2. Celtic Festival at Shawnee Mountain will be held May 23rd and 24th.

May 16 – Men in Heels fund raiser.Five man relay to benefit Safe In Hunterdon (domestic violence shelter).FSSP will be sponsoring a team to include Rich, Gary, Pat B. and, I think,Tom K. but we need more members- at least someone to take pictures!

May 23/24 - Celtic Festival at Shawnee Mountain will be held May 23rd and 24th.

June 12 - Knights of Columbus St. Joseph Council (from High Bridge) Charity Golf Day at High Bridge Hills. $125. For info contact FSSP member Kevin r Donald

Friendly Sons of St Patrick Golf Outing is July 17 - We are in need of sponsors, prize donations, hole sponsors. Ken Oldam is leading this effort and needs the prizes early as possible so he can prepare the auction correctly.
