Meeting DOT POINTS -28 October 2015

Meeting opened - 8.00pm

WELCOME TO MEETING - Vice President Geoff opened the meeting and advised that he was the Chairman for the night and that President Greg would be about 15 minutes late.

Geoff also explained that the new member Frances Harmon, who was to be inducted tonight from USA, was unable to attend due to a time mix up, so that event will be rescheduled.

Club Visit - Greg and Meg Fallon visited the RC of Murwillimbah Central on Tuesday night.

Guest Speaker

Mary Hunter introduced Bevin Fleming who is celebrating 50 years in Rotary and is currently a life member of the RC of Archerfield.

Bevin spoke about his time as a Rotarian and gave us many interesting and special facts about this time. He started 50 years ago with the RC of Rocklea. His wife Phyllis has stood proudly beside him during this time as a Rotary Ann and also heavily involved in Inner Wheel.

Bevin spoke of the past with topics of fellowship, membership, attendance and service elaborated on.

A formal celebration dinner is to be held on 6 Nov.

Geoff thanked Bevin and Phyllis for an interesting talk and congratulated him on his Rotary anniversary.

Directors Reports

1. John Clements - Service and Projects -

●Mt Isa Rodeo has been presented for next year as a Muster and Service event. Please forward your name and interest to attend to Camilla. - August 2016

●Changeover and Relay for Life - May 2016 - all plans going ahead as previously detailed. More details to come in a month’s time when we will be registered officially so we can get shirts ordered, etc.

●Kids Run With Thomas is coming up soon as well.

2. Greg Fallon on behalf of Meg - Membership -

●Frances Harmon will be inducted when a suitable time can be organised.

●Meg has received interest from 3 or 4 people via the 1300 number.

3. Vice President - Geoff St Clair

●Geoff has reminded people to access the Nomads Facebook site as it has regular updates and snippets of information. If any Nomads need some support in accessing either or both the public and private Facebook sites, please call Geoff and he is willing to guide them through the process.

●He encouraged others to add to the private Facebook site as it is a way to develop Fellowship and Friendship.

4. Robin Bailey - Fundraising - nothing new to report.

5. Phil Hughes - Treasurer

●Admin account - $4722.52

●Service account - $3875.68

●$1600 was donated to St Mary's Laidley this week for their Rural Connect Program.

●Jokers Wild will start Nov 4 (next week) so could anyone who still wants to partake please send their money to Phil ASAP. We have 15 players ready to play.

Robin, Steve, Phillip provided us with a run down on what they have been doing recently.

Points of interest

●Robin and Annette are going to here, there and everywhere over the next few months.

●Go the ALL BLACKS vs go the WALLABIES.

●Steve and Trish are back home after 3 months away and welcome visitors to their part of the world near Mt Gambier.

●Phil's time in Tasmania is nearly over but he highly recommends spending time in a little town called Triabunna, which is 88 kms NE of Hobart.

OTHER GENERAL BUSINESS

1. John mentioned how special it is in our club to meet up with other Nomads as we travel around. He recently spent time with Wendy Thomas and the Baileys.

2. Geoff gave a quick rundown on Jokers Wild. It is $30 for 12 weeks and we will have 2 draws each week. Robin reminded Geoff to make up a board with the cards pinned to it to make drawing a card easier. Barry wanted PHIL to know he would be sending another $30 so Leigh can play the game as well.
