July12th, 2016

Present: Bonnie Leraas, Karen Alvstad, Joyce Hanson, and Betty DeClercq

Meeting called to order by President Bonnie Leraas.

The June 14th secretary’s report was read. A motion by Karen Alvstad and seconded by Betty DeClercq to approve. MCU

There was no treasurer’s report and no response to the letter sent to Treasurer.

A motion was made and seconded to approve the appointment of Sandy Perry as our Treasurer. MCU

A motion was made and seconded to open a new combined checking account. MCU

A motion to have Sandy pick out a computer program was made and seconded. MCU

A check from the Grant County Lions in the amount of $300.00 was received and deposited, along with around $6.00 in change from one of the donation boxes.

Our by-laws were discussed and a committee will be formed to get them done. It was suggested that all officers have a term limit.

Membership report - $1,335.00 received.

The Barrett C & C Face book page has disappeared. We will be asking our secretary to create a new one.

Joyce spoke to Alveda Rhude about Hoffman’s community gardens. They charge $15.00 per year rent and provide a 16’ X4’ raised bed. She spoke to the Grant County Lions about sizes of the raised beds they construct. They may be able to take custom orders. We will advertise spaces in the water bill and on websites to have people sign up and place our order with the Grant County Lions.

Movies for kids will be held at Roosevelt Hall on Thursday, July 28th, at 6:30 pm. Tim Ray will be renting a projector from UMM. Joyce has spoken to a few teenagers and they will be willing to sell concessions. Posters will be spread around towns next week. It was suggested to have a tour of the Hall at 6:00 pm for interested kids. We need volunteers – contact Joyce!

The planters are in place and are for the most part thriving. Some need to be replaced. Joyce has been watering them almost every day and would like some help, especially when she will be gone. Please let her know if you are able to help.

Thanks go out to Les and Karen Alvstad, Rae Burns, and Joyce Hanson for planting and distributing the 24 planters.

Karen will be asking for someone to pull the C & C float in the Flekkefest (Sat, 8/6) and Hoffman Harvest Festival (Sun, 8/14) parades. The float was not in the Kensington parade and Bob Leegaard pulled it in the Old Settler’s parade. Please let Karen know if you can do this or provide a pickup.

The Newcomer’s Supper will not be held this year due to the lack of newcomer attendance. Instead we will be distributing “Welcome Wagon” bags to every newcomer in the month of September. If you have items to include, please let Joyce know. We will be working on assembling them next month and need help from anyone who is willing.

Our next meeting will be held Tuesday, August 16th at 6:30 pm. Note change of date.
