BOE Representative:(Sue Salny)The Board of Education reorganized. Committees were combines. The Superintendent search is well underway. The interviews start in early February. On the evening of March 14th, the finalists will address the community at Copeland. They will present their platforms and answer questions.The BOE also launched an electronic bulletin. It's online under District News. This was an effort to help the community get to know the BOE members better. Next year's school calendar is approved and posted online. Budget prep is underway.Theyare meeting about the budget at Copeland on Monday night (2/5) if public wants to observe and listen. Next BOE meeting Feb. 7th at 7:30. They are honoring the Teachers of the Year (including Mrs. Yacavino)

Principal Report:(Mr. Wisniewski) Stony Brook has been dealing with the stomach flu. Custodians are disinfecting all surfaces at night. On Feb 9th, report cards will be available. Indoor recess: there is a rotating schedule for classes to go into the small gym. Kids listen to music and run around.The teachers would like donations of Legos and games for indoor recess to help keep the students entertained. Stony Brook is utilizing Google tools a lot now to prepare the students for middle school. Kids are using Chrome Books. On Feb. 8th, the 5th graders are visiting Copeland. Our students represented Stony Brook well at the district's spelling bee. Update on the green house: it got reinforced and we plan to use it for seedlings in the spring.

Teacher Liaison Report (Mrs. Spinweber)- The soup making day will happen in February. More info to come from Mrs. Kaplan.Fun games still needed for indoor recess.

Cultural Arts: (Cathy Dillon)
Jan. 11- was the Grand Falloons assembly, "Our Earth What a Gas." taught about environment. Jan 26th- 3rd grade saw the "Our Kids on the Block" anti-bullying program
Feb. 1st- 2nd and 4th graders enjoyed the Lenape Valley Native American culture assembly. Feb. 22nd- The whole school will enjoy the Bantaba Circle of Celebration, which is an African dance and culture group.

Candy Bar Bingo: Had a great turn out and was a fun evening.

5th Grade Activities:(Dena Manz) Movie Night Feb 2nd for the 5th graders.

5th Grade Year Book:(Theresa Mulroony)Have lots ofphoto submissions. The committee reached out to get final baby photos and boosters from the 5th grade parents.

Plant Fair: Will be coming up around Mother's Day.

Spiritwear: Deciding if we are doing a spring sale so we can share the information soon. Ideas are tank tops, rainbow tie dye, leggings, hats, bows, basketball shorts.

Staff Appreciation: will be end of April/ beginning of May.

Talent Show: Information coming out soon.

Holiday Shop: (Dena Manz)Profit was $2045, 71

Book Fair: (Cathy Dillon)The total sales reached $9, 698.91. We earned 25% of sales which totaled $2,424.73 as profit. The next book fair will take place in the Spring (4/10-4/12) and will be the BOGO book fair.

Box Tops(Donndarae) Starting a new contest soon, which will run through March. To win a Five Below gift card.

Gertrude Hawk (Debbie Buldo)Envelopes will go home next week in the folders. Sales will go through Feb. 23rd. Chocolate will be delivered on the week of March 12th.

Shoparoo (Roula Ruff) First grade is winning again by a lot. The current contest ends at the end of February. One more contest this year.

Spirit Sticks- We will try anew fundraiser to raise money for PBSIS
