Annual Meeting Minutes—15January 2015
Meeting called to order at 19:05 at the Grafton HS Kiva
Note: Scheduled meeting start was 18:30. This was the first time (known) the PSOA didn’t have a quorum present at the meeting in-person or via proxy. Through the innovative use of technology association members contacted members not present to seek enough proxy votes to constitute a quorum. By 19:04 the minimum number for a quorum was reached (66) and eventually we achieved 68 voting members present in-person or by proxy.
1) We had 3 new members present: Neal Morrissette, Herman Moyopo, and Grace Dunlevy.
2) Minutes from the December meeting are approved as written.
3) Steve Kinney distributed several checks.
4) Several Board Members provided their Annual Reports. Copies of reports are retained and available on request:
- Secretary’s Report (Joe Skaja) – Delivered by Mark Rader
- A recommendation from the floor to record that Bob Kuhnle (sp) had been inducted into the VA Referee Hall of Fame
- Treasurer’s Report – Steve Kinney
- Steve Kinney noted several uncashed checks would be cancelled and re-issued (checks are only valid for 90 days)
- Director of Referee Development – Sean Kent
- Director of Assessment – Matt Franz
- Publicity – Kurt Schueler
- Assignor Reports delivered by:

5) Upcoming Tournaments:

- Actual HS games; fees donated to charity
- Tri-Cities Kick for Cancer: 28 Feb – 1 Mar 2015 (Cathy Fond)
- Fees half of normal, remainder donated to charity
- ODP Friendlies Williamsburg: 20-22 Feb 2015 (Antonio Araiza)
- Rush Cup (VA Beach): 7-8 Mar 2015 (Antonio Araiza)
- Ralph Downey Memorial (VA Beach): 23-24 May 2015 (Antonio Araiza)
6) Ross Small noted the pizza party went well and thanked all that participated.
7) Ross Small shared a Facebook post from Mark Remsa thanking several PSOA members for their support/mentorship (Mark Remsa has moved to Nebraska).
8) Don Reese shared the new age requirement for HS referees is 16 years old and they can only referee middle school matches.
9) Elections:
- The following members were re-elected to another term with no challengers and elected by acclimation:

10) Following the elections 20 x $40 door prizes ($800 total) were distributed according to ticket numbers distributed to PSOA members as they arrived to the meeting. Each winner selected the subsequent winners’ number from a container holding all tickets until all 20 were handed out. Ross Small and Mark Rader distributed door prizes to:

12) On behalf of the PSOA, Ross Small thanked Chuck Gwilt for doing a great job managing the election process!
