Meet the Staff!

Jessie Bolton is a freshman. Jessie is a cheerleader and softball player. Jessie’s goal for this year is to write interesting articles and help “The Lighthouse” to be a success. She hopes to be a journalism student at LHS up until she graduates and one day become a coeditor in chief in the program.

Melissa Bonacarti is a sophomore. She enjoys reading and writing in her spare time. She is a varsity javelin thrower on the track team. Her goal this year is to become a better interviewer and writer.

Gillian Bove is a sophomore. This is her first year in the journalism program. Gillian makes LHS’s music wing a major part of her life. She participates in each year’s play and musical. In her spare time, she takes voice lessons and keeps a journal of stories, poetry and personal thoughts. A natural born dreamer, Gillian has high hopes in having a career in journalism and moving up from there. She also hopes to continue her passion throughout her life: singing.

Gianna Catelli is a freshman. Gianna is a member of the soccer team. She enjoys writing sports articles and taking photos. Gianna is looking forward to learning and sharing her knowledge with others.

Kristen D’Amico is a sophomore. She hopes to learn more about journalism and looks forward to writing articles. She also hopes that journalism will improve her writing.

Samantha DaSilva is a junior. This is her second year in the journalism program. She is a written content editor for “The Lighthouse.” During the fall season, she participates in volleyball, being a part of the varsity and junior varsity teams. Samantha is vice president of Gay-Straight Alliance and is part of Art Club, Computer Club, Student Government Association, Class Council, Fencing Club and National Honor Society. Her favorite part of the program is being able to interview many different people and compose quality articles. Her goal for this year is to become an even stronger writer and further the success of “The Lighthouse.”

Samantha DeForge is a senior. This is her first year in the journalism program. Samantha is a member of the band and is a captain of the color guard. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing and cooking. Her dream is to publish a book.

Anthony Dell’Aquila is a sophomore. He is a member of the band and cross country team. In his free time, he likes to play saxophone, hang out with friends and learn. He is excited for the upcoming track season and aspires to one day become a musician.

Matt DeMarco is a sophomore and assistant editor. He enjoys sports, participating on the football, baseball and wrestling teams. He enjoys writing sports and opinion articles. Matt hopes to continue writing for “The Lighthouse” for the rest of his high school career.

Assmaa Elbanna is a sophomore and assistant editor. She has a passion for writing articles and drawing illustrations for “The Lighthouse.” In her free time, Assmaa enjoys drawing, playing soccer, playing guitar and reading books. Assmaa aspires to one day be a broadcaster and a successful journalist whose voice reaches the public.

Bianca Fata is a senior. This is her second year in the journalism program. She is stepping up from being a staff writer and is now coeditor in chief. She is involved in Future Business Leaders of America and Student Government Association. She is vice president of the National Honor Society and a member of the World Language Honor Society. Bianca is also a member of the varsity soccer, basketball and softball programs. Her goal this year is to make “The Lighthouse” the best it can be for staff and readers alike.

Emma Flusk is a junior. This is her third year in the journalism program. Emma is a written content editor for “The Lighthouse.” She is a member of Future Business Leaders of America, Gay-Straight Alliance, Student Government Association, Computer Club, Art Club and Fencing Club. Emma’s goal is to make this school year the best one she has had so far.

Lucinda Garcia is a junior. This is her first year in the journalism program. She is president of the Gay-Straight Alliance Club, secretary for chorale and is also in the Dungeons and Dragons Club. In her free time, she likes to read, write and watch television shows and movies. Lucinda is excited to finally be a part of “The Lighthouse” and is eager to expand her horizons as a writer.

Lindsay Henning is a sophomore. This is her first year in the journalism program. Lindsay has been playing on the volleyball team since her freshman year. She is also the secretary for the sophomore class. She is looking forward to writing for “The Lighthouse.”

Sean McChesney is a senior. This is his second year in the journalism program, where he is an editor. Sean is outgoing and loves to share his opinions with others. Sean has been on the LHS baseball team since his freshman year. Sean’s favorite thing about journalism is being able to share the knowledge that he learns with the entire school.

Gina Minervini is a freshman. This is her first year in the journalism program. She enjoys being active and spending time with friends and family. Her goal for this year is to become a stronger writer and to get more comfortable with the high school.

Esin Murat is a freshman. She likes to play the violin and piano, read, write and learn languages in her free time. Esin would like to write a book before she graduates, and she hopes being a student journalist will get her in touch with people’s opinions and thoughts. Esin plans to be in the journalism class for all four years of high school and to do great things with the knowledge and experience she gains.

Nicholas Pacheco is a freshman. He is currently playing for LHS’s varsity boys soccer team and is looking forward to track in the spring. He enjoys other sports such as basketball and football and is also interested in politics. His goals for this year are to familiarize himself with journalism and to help make “The Lighthouse” the best it can be.

Julie Pacillo is a freshman. She dances with a team outside of LHS. She likes writing feature articles and hopes to be a valuable journalist to “The Lighthouse.” She is excited to gain experience in the field of journalism with the goal of entertaining all of her readers.

Evangelia Pelidis is a sophomore. This is her first year in the journalism program. She is involved in the drama club. Evangelia is also a player on the varsity volleyball team. She is excited to work with the rest of the journalism staff and to be a part this year’s paper.

Nicole Plonski is a sophomore. She is a written content editor for “The Lighthouse.” Her goal as an editor is to be very helpful and the best editor she can be. In her free time, she loves to dance and shop. This year, Nicole hopes to gain new knowledge leading her to become a stronger writer.

Estefania Pulgarin-Duque is a senior. She is new to “The Lighthouse” staff but has been a part of the newspaper in her previous schools. Estefania is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, Gay-Straight Alliance and the Fencing Club. She hopes to create entertaining and informative news articles this school year.

Luis Quezada is a junior. He hopes to have a great impact on “The Lighthouse” through his articles while having fun doing it. He looks forward to joining sport teams this year and continuing to learn about journalism.

Paul Serrano is a senior. This is his first year in the journalism program. He enjoys playing and watching sports. His goal is to learn how to become a great journalist and possibly pursue a career in the field after high school.

Ashley Stephens is a sophomore. This is her first year in the journalism program and she plans to be in it for the rest of her high school career. She is a member of the cross country team and also enjoys writing. Through journalism, she hopes to become a better writer and is looking forward to being a part of the newspaper.

Briana Thomas is a sophomore. This is her first year in the journalism program. She is a very athletic person, although she is not involved in any sports. Her two best sports are football and baseball, which she enjoys playing with friends and family. She hopes to improve her writing throughout the year.

Joelle Voza is a senior at LHS. This is her third year working for “The Lighthouse,” stepping up to coeditor in chief. She wants to go to college next year to study journalism and eventually become a reporter and write for a newspaper or magazine. She is captain of the cheerleading team and also on the volleyball, basketball and track teams. Her goal for this year is to make “The Lighthouse” the best it’s ever been.

Jennifer Wartel is a freshman. She is a member of the soccer team. She is looking forward to writing for the school paper. Her goal for this year is to improve her writing and write interesting articles people will enjoy.
