2017 Graduation Information Letter

We are ecstatic about our 2015 Kingwood Park Graduation Ceremony and can’t wait to celebrate with you! Graduation will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. at NRG Stadium, Houston, TX. Doors to the stadium open for students at 4:15 AM to enter, double check they are ready, and find their seat. Doors for parents and guests will open at 4:45AM. Below you will find specific information regarding all graduation events. We look forward to seeing you at graduation!

MandatoryGraduation Practice: Fri. May 26nd, 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

Meet in the Large Gym

  • Seniors are REQUIRED to attend practice in order to be permitted to walk across the stage at NRG Stadium.
  • You must have turned in your completed senior checklist BY FRIDAY @ 10:00 amin order to participate in graduation practice.
  • Boys must be clean shaven in order to be allowed into practice. No facial hair is allowed and side burns will not be below the earlobes. Razors and shaving cream will be provided to males who come to practice unshaven.
  • Piercings of any kind except in the ears for girls are not permitted at practice or graduation.
  • Attire for graduation practice is casual, but you must also be in dress code.

Graduation: Saturday, May 27th,5:30 p.m. @ NRG Stadium

  • Seniors will enter the Budweiser Plaza on the South Side of NRG. You must be lined up and ready to enter through the service level of the Amegy Bank Entrance @ 4:15 AM. SHARP!!!
  • All Students will park and enter the stadium through the Budweiser Plaza.
  • Parents and guests will park inGATE 9,enter into the Budweiser Plaza on the south sideof NRG then into Amegy Bank Entrance. Seating is first come, first serve and there is no reserved seating. (Handicap seating will be available at the top of each section. ROTC will be ushering those needing assistance.) Programs will be available at this level.
  • All graduates and parents must go through security prior to entering NRG Center.
  • At 5:30p.m. sharp we will begin the graduation march.
  • The graduation ceremony is expected to end at approximately 6:45 p.m.
  • This will be a reverent ceremony. As such, inappropriate behavior, noise makers or signs are not acceptable.
  • All Graduates and Parents will exit out the west end of the stadium into the Ford Entrance. You can plan to meet up with your students OUTSIDE that exit.
  • Graduates must not have cell phones out during the ceremony.
  • Attire for the graduation ceremony is as follows:
  • Ladies – dressy attire (dresses or skirts), dress shoes
  • Earrings only, NO nose rings (if you wear one, you will be asked to take it out. If you put it in last minute, you will be asked to take it out before you cross the stage.)
  • Gentlemen – Dressy attire (collared dress shirt, dark tie, dark pants & socks, dress shoes)
  • No facial hair
  • No earrings, nose rings, etc. (if you wear one, you will be asked to take it out. If you put it in last minute, you will be asked to take it out before you cross the stage.)
  • APPROVED HONOR AWARDS FOR GRADUATION. These are the only approved cords/stoles that can be worn at graduation.

Top ten students- gold stoles

Top ten percent- gold cords

Class officers- white stoles

Student council officers- red stoles

National Honor Society- white collar; officer medal

National French Honor Society- blue, white, and red cord

National Spanish Honor Society- yellow and red cord

National Latin Honor Society- purple cord

National Math Honor Society- light blue and gold cord

National Science Honor Society- green, purple, and gold cord

AP Graduate- Green and silver cord

FFA Lone Star Degree- blue and gold cord

International Honor Society for High School Journalists- intertwined blue and gold cord

Diploma Pick-Up: May 30th May 31st from 10:00-12:00, KPHS Lower LGI

  • Students may sign for and pick up their diplomas with a photo ID
  • Parents or guardians may sign for and pick up their graduate’s diploma with their personal ID. For security purposes we can allow NO exceptions.
  • If neither parent nor student can pick up the diploma, it will be available after these dates in the registrar’s office, Mon.-Thurs. between the hours of 9 a.m.-11 a.m. or 12 p.m.-2 p.m.
