ANNOUNCEMENTS/TRAININGS AND UPCOMING EVENTS

-CERT class – January 29, February 5, February 12, 2011

-Adult, Child, Infant CPR/AED/First Aid classes – January 8 and 22, 2011 (more classes to follow in the following months)

-SLV RETAC meeting – January 20, 2011

-All Hazards meeting – January 24, 2011

-Public Health Tabletop Exercise in San Luis for Costilla and Conejos Counties – January 18, 2011

-ICS 300 – February 1 – 2 and ICS 400 – February 9 – 10 Colorado Springs

-Alamosa County 9 Health Fair April 1, 2011;

-Rio Grande County Health Fair is March 26th, 2011 in Del Norte in the Mini Gym

CITIZEN CORPS COORDINATOR REPORT

November/December Activities:

-participated in Alamosa County Public Health Mass Care tabletop exercise

-Attended CPAC (Citizen Corps) workshop in Denver

-Participated in monthly DTR radio drills

-Participated in the state MRC and CVM conference calls (3)

-Attended SLV CART team work session on updating the SLV CART Emergency Operations Plan

-Attended SLV RETAC meeting

-Updated the MRC, CERT and Citizen Corps website information

-Two SLV MRC volunteers assisted with the CSU vaccination clinics

-Attended the UASI Conference in Denver

-Participated in Functional Needs Shelter Webinar by Red Cross

-Received 2010 – 2011 NACCHO capacity building funding - $5000

-Received scholarship to attend 2011 Public Health Preparedness Summit in Atlanta (MRC)

January Goals:

-Attend SLV RETAC meeting

-Attend CPAC and HLS meetings

-Complete and submit Citizen Corps quarterly reports

-Write Code Red emergency messages for dispatch

-Review budget updates for 2009 and 2010 MRC budgets with fiscal agent

-Participate in Public Heath Exercise in San Luis for Costilla and Conejos County Public Health Agencies.

-Attend All Hazards meeting

-Participate in Neighborhood Watch Webinar Exercise

-Update all valley volunteer lists with SLV Red Cross

-Offer CERT training in Alamosa

-Attend Alamosa Healthcare Coalition meeting

OLD BUSINESS

-Member training requirements – ICS 100 and NIMS 700 to be completed as soon as possible (certificate copies to Sue)

-CVM database update

-Colorado Veterinary MRC (CART) – January 22 – 23 training in Englewood by American Humane Association (Disaster Sheltering for Companion Animals)

-IS 00011.a Animals in Disaster: Community Preparedness (online class)

-Dave Hayden gave a summary of the UASI conference that he attended

a. Israeli law enforcement and suicide bombings

b. Peer support model for First Responder support here in the SLV

NEW BUSINESS

-Charlotte Bobicki brought her United States Senate survival pack to the meeting

Jim went through the pack to show all in attendance the contents

-Tent and Trailer Tour – 9 Health Fair in Alamosa? April 1

-Received 2010 – 2011 NACCHO capacity building funding - $5000

-Received scholarship to attend 2011 Public Health Preparedness Summit in Atlanta

-Elect/appoint new Vice Chair; Linda Smith has agreed to be the Vice Chair and conduct meetings in Sue’s absence.

-3rd annual Volunteer Capacity Building Workshop scheduled for June 23rd in Breckenridge

-Update vision/mission statements – create job action sheets – volunteers to help with these

-National MRC Conference scheduled for May 1 – 5 in Grapevine, Texas

-Ola Bovin and Dr. Bill Brinton volunteered to help with the outbreak in northern Colorado recently

-Linda Smith and Sue Davis will be working on the volunteer list for the SLV region

A call-down exercise and update will be occurring soon with all identified volunteers

-New protocols will be introduced to keep our elected officials safe. Charlotte Bobicki will provide this document for our review.
