TIMELY NOTIFICATION BULLETIN
July 16, 2013; 1:30 p.m.
In compliance with the "Timely Warning" provisions of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, Bakersfield College is giving notice of a reported instance of Forced Sexual Assault in the Fine Arts and Student Services buildings at Bakersfield College's Panorama Campus in northeast Bakersfield.
REPORTED OFFENSE: A Bakersfield College student has reported an incident of Forced Sexual Assault occurring on Bakersfield College's Panorama Campus.

DETAILS: A Bakersfield College student was approached by the suspect, who is described as an African-American male, 5'9", slightly overweight, with black curly hair and a moustache. Suspect has tattoos on his right wrist and right upper chest in black ink which depict some type of writing. Suspect was wearing a grey shirt, black shorts, and black shoes with white laces at the time of the assault. The victim was approach by the suspect on the north side of the Student Services building at Bakersfield College. The suspect walked the victim to the GET Bus terminal on Panorama Drive, then to the Fine Arts building, where he sexually assaulted the victim in the men's restroom in the pottery locker room. After the first incident of Forced Sexual Assault, the victim left the building, where she encountered the suspect again. The suspect walked the victim to the Student Services building first floor concourse, where he assaulted her a second time in the men's restroom. The Forced Sexual Assault took place between 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, and was reported by the victim to the Bakersfield Police Department on Friday, July 12, 2013. Bakersfield College was notified at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2013.
SITUATION: Forced Sexual Assault of a Bakersfield College student by an unknown suspect.
SUSPECT: African-American male, 5'9", slightly overweight, with black curly hair and a moustache. Suspect has tattoos on his right wrist and right upper chest in black ink which depict some type of writing. Suspect was wearing a grey shirt, black shorts, and black shoes with white laces at the time of the assault.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Suspect was observed by the victim near the Campus Center on the Bakersfield College campus in northeast Bakersfield on Thursday, July 11, 2013, at 11 a.m. This sighting was one day after the reported Forced Sexual Assault. The victim filed a report with the Bakersfield Police Department on Friday, July 12, 2013. Bakersfield College's Public Safety Department is currently working in conjunction with the Bakersfield Police Department to continue the investigation.
WHY ARE WE REPORTING: Due to the dangerous nature of the crime and without specific information on the suspect's identity, it can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to students and staff at Bakersfield College. It is the duty of Bakersfield College, under the requirements of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, to warn of possible dangerous conditions on or near its campuses, or of possible injury at the hand of some third party or parties.

If you call 911 from a land line, your call will be answered by the Bakersfield Police Department. If you call Bakersfield College Public Safety at 395-4554 or 395-4555, the officers on campus can immediately respond to the situation and contact Bakersfield Police Department dispatch directly.
