Mechanical seat moves

Requires a minimum of two staff to perform mechanical seat move

Retracting seats

  • Move seats into the vertical position up to and including row H in the central section and row F on the sides and fold up arm rests
  • Switch on the emergency box lights using fish key – 2 on door 4 side, 1 on door 8 side
  • For seats in central section from and including rows J-R and the sides from and including rows G-Q lift the arm rests and then lower using foot pedal, starting from the wall on sides and work upwards from rows J &G
  • Remove the six side seats manually (seat numbers G/K/N 11 & G/K/N 34) and screw bolts back into the floor. Use trolley to move to cupboard and strap on for security (store seats in stage right cupboard)
  • Remove the firstfour triangular blocks on central stairs
  • Remove step gap in-fills if used (store in cabinet in stage right cupboard)
  • Bolt in the removable stairwell barrier panels (see separate method statement below)
  • Check that there is no one under the bleachers and that all 4 pairs of fire exit doors on both sides to under the seating are locked
  • Check for any rubbish which might block movement of the bleachers
  • Ensure all arm rests are raised
  • Switch on main power (concourse cupboard stage right)
  • Unscrew panel and plug in control cable (located approx seat B32)
  • On operating pad turn top switch to twelve o’clock position, then press top two buttons to retract front row only in central section
  • On operating pad turn top switch to two o’clock position, and then press top two buttons to retract bleachers. Keep a very close eye on the gaps on either side as there is very little margin for error - keep an eye on both the front of the bleachers and the tops, as the back sections move out some could foul on the upper door frames. Use left and right/forward and back buttons to re-position and steer back into line
  • Once fully reversed unplug control cable, screw on metal cover and isolate power (concourse cupboard stage right)
  • Turn on remaining emergency box light on door 8 side using kick stool or step ladder
  • Cover seats
  • Unlock the double fire exits at Doors 4 and 8 and turn on the lobby lights

Extending seats

  • Ensure floor is clean and dry
  • Lock the four sets of double doors (inner and outer) that will be hidden by the bleachers and turn off lobby lights
  • Turn off emergency box light using fish key, on door 8 side using kick stool or step ladder
  • Uncover seats
  • Switch on power (concourse cupboard stage right), remove metal cover, plug in control cable
  • On operating pad turn top switch to two o’clock position, and then press bottom two buttons to extend bleachers. Keep a very close eye on the gaps on either side as there is very little margin for error – keep an eye on both the front of the bleachers, and the tops as the back sections move out as some could foul on the upper door frames. Use left and right/forward and back buttons to re-position and steer back into line
  • On operating pad turn top switch to twelve o’clock position, then press bottom two buttons to extend front row only in central section
  • Unplug control cable and replace metal cover – screw into place
  • Isolate mains power
  • Replace triangular blocks
  • Replace six seats and bolt down securely
  • Fold up all flattened seats and fold down arm rests starting from the top and working down, and from the aisle and working out
  • Tilt back all seats on the front rows and fold down arm rests
  • Fit step gap in-fills if needed
  • Remove stairwell barrier panels and store away (see separate method statement below)
  • Turn off remaining emergency box lights – 2 on door 4 side and 1 on door 8 side, using fish key
