55 and Better Guest Lecture Series

September through December 2015

Exciting things are going on in the Medina Community Recreation Center 55 and Better Club! Our Fall/Winter lineup of speakers is going to be great. You will want to mark your calendars way ahead of time for all of these great programs. And make sure you tell your friends, everyone is invited!

The programs are all held at the Medina Recreation Center in community rooms B/C, just off the lobby. Our address is 855 Weymouth Road, Medina, Ohio. Once again, our coffee/tea is sponsored by Medina McDonald’s. If you are a member, you can walk before or after the program. Non-members can walk before the program for just $1. Our guest speakers begin at 10:30am and run approximately 1 hour. Depending on the date, Life Care Center of Medina, Willowood Care Center, Medina Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation,Brookdale Medina North and South,Meadowview Care Center, or Medina Meadows Rehabilitation and Nursing Centrewill be sponsoring a luncheon after the speaker from 11:30 to 12:30pm. September18– BUILDING YOUR DREAMS – And What to do if That Dream is a Wooden Ski Boat! – Keith Reidel – Come and listen to Keith, who is from Chippewa Lake, tell us about how he is making his dream come true. He will have a smaller boat that he made on display. ((Lunch provided by Life Care Center of Medina)

October 2– THE COMPLETE HISTORY OF PURITAS SPRINGS PARK– Ralph Pfingsten – Northern Ohio Railway Museum – The Puritas Springs Park was an important part of life back in the day. Ralph will bring us down memory lane and tell us a little about life in the park! (Lunch provided by Willowood Care Center in Brunswick)

October 16 – HEALTHY COMFORT FOODS –Easy Recipes and Tastings too! – Michele Cotner – Griswold Home Care -Join us as we learn how to make some easy recipes for two and even get to taste some of them! (Lunch provided by Brookdale Medina North and South)

October 30 - A SAFE DRIVE THOUGH THE AGING PROCESS – How to Stay Safe on the Roads Longer! – Cindy McQuown– The key to extending one’s safe driving career is self awareness. We all want to keep our independence for as long as possible. This is a “Must Hear” topic for everyone! (Lunch provided by Meadowview Care Center in Seville)

November6 – MEDICARE ABC’s – Candice Cokefair, Humana –It is that time of year again, Open Enrollment, and EVERYONE has questions about Medicare! Come and listen to Candice tell us what she knows. There will be plenty of time to ask questions! (Lunch provided by Medina Meadows Rehabilitation and Nursing Centre)

November 20 - GRATITUDE FOR ATTITUDE -Attitude is Everything! – Denise Vaca –Hospice of Medina County -Come join us for an informative yet funny look at attitudes and the important role they play in a person’s life!This will motivate you to go out and have a more positive attitude! (Lunch provided by Lunch provided by Medina Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation)

December 4– THE NATIVE AMERICANS FROM THE NORTHERN REGIONS –John Burke – John is a wealth of knowledge about Native Americans. He has some amazing costumes and props as well. Come and listen to the wonderful stories that John has to tell! (Lunch provided by Life Care Center of Medina)

December 18 – THE TRAVELING MUSIC MAN –Mark Warrick and Joyce Patrick – Come and listen to some wonderful music from all genres. Mark and Joyce will entertain us and tell us a little about how they got into music! (Lunch provided by Willowood Care Center)
