Updates on Data by Mr. Perlberg

  • Behavioral Data
  • Mr. Perlberg reported that the numbers have not changed that much from the previous meeting.
  • The number of incidents has gone up, but the percentage has not changed.
  • 7% of our students have been in ISS
  • Repeat offenders have gone up from 1% to 2%.
  • There has been a trend shift for the locations of incidents.
  • Earlier, most incidents were happening in the classrooms, and now, more incidents are happening in the bathrooms, hallways, and during unstructured time.
  • A possible solution for this is for each teacher to have a sign out for the bathrooms including a section for students to report any problems with the bathroom upon their return
  • Suggestions by leadership team members
  • Can their be a structured mentoring group? (Ex. men’s basketball game)
  • Could we start school wide rewards system?
  • Could we add sheets to the planners for next year for students to earn signatures?
  • Academic Data
  • SMI
  • 6th grade average growth on SMI is 98 points
  • 7th grade average growth on SMI is 124 points
  • 8th grade average growth on SMI is 106 points
  • Consequently, we are meeting or exceeding growth at all grade levels.
  • STAR
  • We do not have STAR data at this time.

6th grade Concerns

  • none

7th grade Concerns

  • 6th grade encore switch is too loud.
  • Students should not go to their lockers between encore classes.
  • Students must use passes if they are out of any classroom.
  • Can Ms. Hine supply more passes for teachers?
  • Announcements are starting too early.

  • This is much improved since the last meeting.
  • We need a consistent discipline form.
  • Mr. Perlberg will look into this.
  • Should equipment be used at activity time?
  • The consensus was that it is up to the team, but that smaller groups can more successfully use equipment than larger groups.
  • What is the purpose of the 11:35 bell?

8th grade Concerns

  • Can we have a trash can out back for activity time?
  • Ms. Hester said she would take care of this.
  • Encore missed a week of ASD and should sign up on the spreadsheet in google drive.
  • 8th graders should not be late to encore class. The 8th grade teachers are excusing them on time. Make sure they have a note or a consequence for being late.
  • Feminine products are needed in the 8th grade workroom.

Parent Concerns

  • None

Encore Concerns

  • Doing school-wide computer based surveys is difficult during focus since we do not have computers. Can this be done in homeroom?
  • The Tornado drill is scheduled in the middle of a class change. Can this be adjusted.
  • 7th grade teachers will send students at 9:22 instead.
  • Dance Coverage for the last dance was sparse.
  • Suggestion was to stop signing up in shifts and just sign up for the whole dance. This will cut the coverage needs in half.
  • Mr. Babyak will be testing students on March 23rd.
