MBAA 2010 Funding Policy

The following are the proposed guidelines and process to allocate funds for conferences, case competitions and career treks in the year 2010.

Guidelines

·  The funding will go towards activities that fulfill either of the following objectives:

o  Add value to Haas students through skill development or career development

o  Enhance Haas brand in other parts of the country/world.

·  No limit1 on the financial support that an individual can draw as long as he/she continues to fulfill the objectives of MBAA funds.

·  No limit on the funds allocated to a particular group attending a conference, trek or competition. 2

·  Faculty advisor not required to access MBAA funds for case competitions.

·  The funds will be allocated to the initiatives for which the financial support can make a significant impact on the participation of the event.

·  Simple and predictable application process.

·  Complete transparency on the decision made on funding requests.

·  This differs from the Special Initiatives Fund as that fund does not cover – conference attendance/participation, case competitions, or career treks.

·  The MBAA recommends that if you are attending a case competition and win a financial prize to return your funding allotment for others to follow in your footsteps

Process

·  The interested teams fill out the application form and submit it to

o  Kyle Sandburg () for all requests related to career treks

§  CC: Liz Callahan ()

o  Ankush Garg () for all requests related to all external case competitions and conferences

§  CC: Liz Callahan ()

·  Three members of the MBAA, three club presidents (chosen at random), and a non-voting advisor from program office will collectively consider all funding requests twice a semester.

·  The requests will be evaluated as per the application rating framework.

·  The applicants will be informed about the decision and reasons for the decided funding allotment.

1 Different from 2009 policy that had a limit of $100 limit per student per year

2 Different from 2009 policy that had a limit of $1,000 per activity
