Mid-Term Review

  • The exam will come from class discussion/lecture and assigned readings. You will need to be able to apply concepts to situations and integrate the material with the readings.
  • A copy of the overheads used in class are available to you through the class website.

  • You must use Exam4 software (see link under handouts button on website for getting software). You must re-load the software each semester. It is critical that you select the CORRECT course information. This exam for this course is S15mMGT5310. If you do not correct the right exam you will be penalized 10 points on your exam grade.

2 Questions (worth 50 points each)

Module 1 –Organizational Development and Planned Change

  • Model of Organizational Development and Change – know 6 steps and how to apply them – be very specific
  • Sources of Resistance to Change
  • Strategies to Overcome Resistance to Change

Module 2 – Leadership

Leadership Theories and application:

  • Substitutes Theory: be able to identify substitutes, tell what they are substituting for (task or relationship) and determine what leadership is needed
  • Situational Leadership: know 4 leadership styles and how to deal with employees in each style & ways to develop employees(diagnosis, flexibility, partner for performance)
  • Transformational Leadership: 5 key characteristics

Be sure and know the details of each leadership model and be able to apply them!

Module 3 – Change Management Process

  • Organizational Culture - elements
  • Tools for successful change
