Y2K Plus Project Leader

Responsible to:Y2K Manager

Hours of Duty:Full Time - 35 hours per week

Salary: £23,241 per annum

Purpose of Job:To manage, develop, deliver and evaluate Y2K Plus service and provide supports to young people with additional support needs.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities.

  • To ensure that services are delivered safely, effectively in accordance with quality standards, protocols and Y2K policies.
  • To deliver a case management and person centred service and model of practice.
  • To promote Y2K Plus and the supports the service and Y2K provides.
  • To engage with young people referred to the service on a 1-1 basis and in a supportive process to address life issues and areas of concern.
  • To develop, prepare and deliver group work with Y2K colleagues, school teaching staff and other external agency workers.
  • To be part of the Y2K staff team during drop in sessions.
  • To build and maintain close working links with external agencies and make referrals to those relevant supporting agencies.
  • To build and maintain effective working links and relationships with referring agencies and manage/promote referral routes into the service.
  • To liaise with and report to funding bodies, maintain effective partnership working and manage public relations effectively.
  • To develop a programme of diversionary activities with Y2K colleagues and manager.
  • To source funding for residential trips for young people.
  • To develop additional service supports through the recruitment of volunteers.
  • To develop and facilitate a training programme for volunteers.
  • To identify funding streams for an enlarged Y2K Plus service.
  • To report to Y2K project manager and board of directors on service performance and development.
  • Work with Y2K office and finance manager to monitor use of service budgets ensuring resources are being used effectively and within budget.

Educational Qualification.

A Professional qualification in either of the following:

Community Education, Informal Education, Youth and Community Work, Community Development, Social Work, Counselling, Healthor Teaching.

Experience Required.

A minimum of three years experience of working in a supportand advice role to young people or significant youth work experience (voluntary work will be accepted) or similar work delivering services for and with young people.

Experience of working within social work, teaching, voluntary or statutory youth work services, delivering an integrated needs led service with vulnerable young people.

Experience of working to child protection processes and legislation.

Experience of delivering a case management and person centred model of practice.

A working knowledge of the voluntary sector.

Experience of preparing, writing and submitting funding applications.

A working knowledge of IT office software and applications.

Experience of working in multi agency settings and approaches.

Skills and Attributes.

Y2K is looking for an open, honest and non-judgemental practitioner who is able to work on their own initiative, as well as part of an overall team. The postholder should be self-motivated and able to provide motivation and support to other colleagues.

The candidate should be well organised and have experience of project working and management, which should include skills in project development and management, monitoring, evaluation and report writing.

Strong and effective communication skills are essential.

It would be desirable if the candidate had a qualification and/or experience in counselling skills and approaches, specifically with hard to reach and vulnerable young people.

A full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes is required.

There may be times when there will be a need to work evenings and weekends.
