Matthew 14:13-21, “How to Get Ready for a Miracle”

10-1-17

“Daring Faith” is a two month focus on growing, sowing and going in faith.

1. God wants you to grow in faith.

“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:7 (NLT)

2. God wants you to sow in faith. (Generosity)

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” 2 Corinthians 9:6 (NIV).

3. God wants you to go in faith.

It was by faith Abraham obeyed God’s call to go. He left his own country, without knowing where he was to go.” Hebrews 11:8

Introduction: A miracle is when God shows up and does what only God can do.

I. Admit I have an unsolvable problem

This is the first step. Too often our first response is worry.

II. I must give God what I already have. 6:38

When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip,‘Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip,“Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?’He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.” John 6:5-6

God always has the answer before I even know the problem.

III. I put it all in the hands of Jesus

IV. Expect God to multiply it

A. Jesus is never discouraged by how little we have to give

Him

B. Jesus give thanks for what we place in His hands. 13:19

C. Jesus can multiply your faithfulness. 13:20

Conclusion: God likes to do His miracles in through people

“‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived’the things God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9
