Student learning outcomes: Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

Solve linear, simultaneous and quadratic inequalities as well as inequalities involving quotients and three factors

Solve absolute value equations and inequalities

Know and apply the definition of a function (including Evaluation of functions and finding the domain of a function)

Recognize and be able to obtain the graph of a linear, power or absolute value function

Be able to apply the vertical line test and determine whether a given equation defines a function

Be able to determine how certain transformations of a function affect its graph (vertical/horizontal shifts, reflections in the X or Y axis and vertical stretching/shrinking)

Know the definition of a polynomial function. Be able to divide polynomials using long division and synthetic division

Be able to use the remainder and factor theorem

Know how to use the rational zeros theorem to find rational zeros and factor polynomials

Know how to factor polynomials completely using complex zeros

Know the definition of an exponential function with base a, base 10 and base e

Know the definition of the logarithmic function and how to apply it

Know the laws of logarithms and how to apply them

Know how to expand and combine logarithmic expressions

Know how to expand and combine logarithmic expressions

Know how to solve exponential and logarithmic expressions

Know how to obtain the sum, difference, and product of matrices. Know how to obtain the scalar product
