Design

The research method was a ______as the IV is gender; so either ______or ______(a pre-existing difference between participants). The DV has 2 measures, whether the participants are a vegetarian or not (______data) and the length of time they have been a vegetarian (measured in number of years – ______data). The experimental design was ______groups as there were different participants in each condition.

Participants: sampling

Participants in this study should were over ______of age so no parental ______was needed. The target population was students at a ______college (16-18 year olds) and the method was volunteer sampling. A ______was put up in the sixth form social area asking for participants to come forward. The full aim was displayed on the poster so by volunteering participants were aware of the study aims. 50 ______were part of the study – 25 males and 25 females.

Materials

The students volunteered and were then asked to complete a questionnaire. The questionnaire was the only ______that was needed for the study.

Procedure

•Participants wereasked to go alone, to a quiet room nearby (to reduce the impact of ______) and given an ______form to sign. This contained the ‘general’ aim of the study, the right to ______and an assurance data would be treated ______.

•Participants were then be asked to complete a written______which simply asked 2 questions:

•After Ps finished the study they were given a written ______containing the true aim of the study, the researcher’s contact details, a reminder that data will be kept ______and the opportunity to withdraw their data. Ps were also thanked for their ______in the study.
