POLICY
The principal duties of the Masterpiece Quilt Coordinator (MQC) are to oversee all aspects of the Masterpiece Quilt Program and insure that it operates within the guidelines approved by the Board of Directors. The MQC Coordinator must be an NQA/NACQJ certified quilt judge.
PROCEDURES
The Coordinator of the Masterpiece Quilt Program shall:
1. Consult with the Board of Directors in all matters regarding the program.
2. With the approval of the Board of Directors, establish and document standards and procedures to be
used for qualifying NACQJ judges as Masterpiece Quilt judges. These procedures shall be fully explained
in a program operations and procedure manual.
3. Submit all changes in the program's policies, operations or procedures to the Board of Directors for
approval before implementation.
4. With the approval of the Board of Directors, set all program fees. Nomination fees and applications shall
be sent to the Masterpiece Quilt Coordinator for processing; the Masterpiece Quilt Coordinator shall
forward all checks and a report of these transactions to the NACQJ Treasurer.
5. Encourage the quiltmaker to obtain personal property insurance.to cover liability for any Masterpiece
Quilts in the possession of NACQJ or partner shows for the purpose of evaluation/exhibition of
Masterpiece status.
6. Arrange for secure receipt (of shipped quilts) and return shipping of quilts nominated for Masterpiece
status.
7. Develop and edit all forms necessary for the operation of this program and submit them to the Board of
Directors for approval.
8. Enlist other certified judges to oversee updating of Masterpiece quilt evaluation materials, and assist the
MQC with the general business of the program.
9. Maintain records, as required, pertaining to the Masterpiece status of all quilts evaluated.
10. Communicate with the CJs regularly to invite nominations for quilts to be evaluated.
11. Insure material is supplied for publication in the Certified Quilt Judges Newsletter.
12. Contribute program information for the website.
13. Submit space and time requirements for any Masterpiece Quilt evaluations to a Partner Show Director
at least two months preceding a show.
14. The Masterpiece Quilt Coordinator will either personally attend and conduct the evaluation room, or
will designate a qualified (previous status as MQC) to conduct the room(s). Transportation and
accommodation reimbursement for the purpose of managing Masterpiece Quilt Evaluations is not
provided.
15. Official business relating to the Program may only be conducted in accordance with established voting
procedures as follow:
The MQC Coordinator will notify all active CJs by mail or e-mail of business requiring a vote no less than three (3) weeks before the voting deadline.
Votes may be forwarded to the MQC Coordinator electronically or by mail and receipt will be acknowledged by the MQC Coordinator.
The MQC Coordinator will keep an official record of all votes.
The results of final votes will be forwarded to the Board of Directors to be reviewed and approved.
16. Respond to all inquiries and requests for information about the program.
17. Supply digital images of the Masterpiece quilts for the NACQJ website.
18. Supply information about the program with images of new Masterpiece Quilts to quilt-related
publications for publicity of the program.
