Dear Commissioner Bharel:
My name is Marie Yolene Delma, I am currently employed at Corey Hill Nursing home in Brighton Ma. I am the Unit Manager of the facility. I write respectfully to request you and your collegue will reconsider the new proposed amendment regarding "Long term Care regulations"
I feel obligated as a nurse to do so because I would like to share some facts and real experience with you. I know that you and your collegue meant good with the new proposal but you are not working at these nursing homes and I specifically want to talk about where I work Corey Hill The first constructed Nursing Facility in New England build in 1956, An Antique.
Our facility is a small facility with a capacity of 43 beds. Right now our current census is 30 and It's been like that for over a year and despite our low census The owner of the nursing home continues to run the business with the same average of employees hoping things will get better despite their weekly loss. They want to keep their long time employee and not distressing the care that we are providing to our residents because this Corey Hill is a homelike healthy environment for the staff and the residents.
We really care for our residents and most of them has no family to look after them or no involvement at all. These residents know us "Staff of Corey Hill, Staff of Rehab associates". They Know what to expect from us everyday. We do make a difference in their lives and the feeling is mutual. We do our best at Corey Hill and other nursing facilities that belong to Rehab associates inc. to ensure our resident feel at home everyday and Corey Hill itself the Antique is a place where you feel needed, helping and making a difference in somebody's life. I wish you could see Mr Thisse senior at Corey Hill. I am sure you will be very pleased to see how involved, considerate and caring he is to the residents and the staff. It is amazing to see the love , strength, patience and understanding that he carries and bring with him to our special residents. Do you think it's fair and ok to reinforce a new proposal that will put our facility out of business and brake this perfect work place setting where patient, staff, employer understand each other and work with the same goal : work together, caring for our residents, ensure they know there is a place called Corey Hill the first constructed nursing facility in New England and this place is Home.
Our facility might not be the biggest in Massachussetts but we have so much to offer and give. Our door is always open to students around the area, We encourage new grads to apply at our facility due to our size in order to provide good training so they do not get loss and be able to stand on their feet and move on safety. We do so much at Corey and we are trying so hard to meet certain safety requirement in order to satisfy all parties. Please think about it.
Thank you for considering my request, May God bless you and give you the wisdom of King Solomon to do the right thing and Merry Christmas to you and your collegue.
Very Truly Yours
Marie Yolene Delma
