Marketing and Match Activity Associate -- Mass Mentoring Partnership

AmeriCorps is a national community service program that gives people an opportunity to apply their skills and ideals towards helping others and meeting critical needs in the community. The Highland Street AmeriCorps Ambassadors of Mentoring is an AmeriCorps Program where members serve in mentoring programs across Massachusetts.
Organizational Description:
Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) is fueling the movement to expand empowering youth-adult relationships to meet the needs of communities across Massachusetts. We work with mentoring programs and youth development organizations to assess programmatic needs and organizational capacity to provide customized strategies that strengthen youth, families, and communities.
Mass Mentoring Partnership’s AmeriCorps program, the Highland Street Corps Ambassadors of Mentoring, is currently recruiting an Ambassador for the 2015-2016 program year to work at Mass Mentoring as the Marketing and Match Activity Associate. The 2015-2016 program year begins on August 3, 2015 and runs through June 30, 2016.
Essential Functions of the Position (required):
Match Activity Outreach
- Research, develop and implement a strategy for procurement of in-kind donations for mentor/mentee matches such as free tickets to events (match activities) especially for National Mentoring Month.
- Lead key match activity partnerships and events, including Mentoring Night at Fenway Park, Mentoring Night at the Boston Celtics and other events and ticket distribution programs such as the Boston Celtics and New England Revolution season ticket holder exchange programs.
- Lead communication with mentoring programs and mentors around match activity opportunities to access this benefit.
- Track all match activity partnerships and donations on a monthly basis and develop tools to improve the reporting of all match activities.
- Create post-event and partnership reports and communications to match activity partners, mentoring programs and mentors to communicate the reach and impact of match activity events.
Marketing Coordination
- Lead aspects of high-profile public awareness and recruitment campaigns, including the Red Sox Mentoring Challenge, Back to School campaign and National Mentoring Month.
- Serve as internal lead for communications work of other Ambassadors of Mentoring as needed as well as communicate to the entire Corps and alumni.
- Research and develop ways to improve mentoring programs’ marketing and communications efforts.
- Develop ideas for enhancing awareness of National Mentoring Month events and activities as a vehicle to promote MMP’s work
- Work in collaboration with Marketing staff to develop tools to better track the impact of MMP’s communication activities
- Research best practices among nonprofits on engaging external stakeholders
Qualifications:
- BA/BS strongly preferred
- Experience with and/or commitment to youth development, nonprofit organizations and their development
- Comfortable with public speaking
- Strong writing and editing skills - experience with social media preferred
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proven leadership and project management abilities
- A passion for national and community service
- The desire to work with diverse people, organizations and communities
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a good sense of humor
- Positive attitude
- Experience and interest in working with diverse people and organizations with an emphasis on communities of color
- You must be a U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent resident alien of the U.S. to be an AmeriCorps member.
