MARYSVILLE MEDICAL PRACTICE PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP MINUTES

MEETING HELD 18 MAY 2017 AT MARYSVILLE PRACTICE

  1. DIABETES AWARENESS PROGRAM
  • WFH publication to be published in the June edition of Belle Vue Magazine
  • Sister Richards happy to issue W4H leaflets when appropriate
  • GPs happy with generic diabetes poster, JM to circulate to ref group
  • Shropshire Cycling 4Health forum ended 2015 – more research needed
  • DG produced draft of gardening/vegetable growing project for consideration
  • General chat about how to keep the A-board ‘fresh’ RH brought a suggested layout for Diabetes awareness including a “Change 4 life” poster to be displayed from early June to keep info ‘fresh’ - approved by the meeting.

It was agreed to give continued priority at future meetings on actions for the diabetes awareness program

  1. HEALTH TALKS

General health talks would remain on the agenda. Dr Wilson’s (COPD) talk to be postponed until later in 2017.

  1. ROLE OF RECEPTIONISTS

HW to speak with Semra about talking to the Group about their role before an explanatory leaflet can be produced by the PPG.

  1. SHROPSHIRE PATIENT GROUP

RH attended the meeting on 17May when Meredith Vivian, a new lay- member of CCG, was introduced.” He said that according to the NHS constitution, the patients come first. Hewants to represent the views of “those who can’t express themselves fully”.

NHS England mandate all Urgent Care Centres must have a walk –in centre in future - unless the current system is working.

IT cyber- attack had some effect within the NHS in Shropshire, including some GP practices (– RH has spoken with JP, who confirmed that no impact was felt at Marysville.)

Discussion about patient representation on the Future Fit Maternity services review.

5. OTHER MATTERS

HW will enquire about news on long –term locum GP appointment due to start August.

No news from GPs on suggested Lifestyle Management Program. It was agreed to keep item on the agenda.

DIARISED 2017 MEETINGS

  • 15th June 2017

All meetings to take place the third Thursday of the month from 2:00pm at the surgery

  • All : To think about one or two ideas on how to take the diabetes initiative forward
  • RH : Prepare new Diabetes Awareness display for A-board
  • HW : To invite Semra to talk to group about Role of Receptionists
  • HW : To speak with GPs re views on promoting a Lifestyle Management Program
  • RH : To look into Shropshire cycling groups, especially for beginners
  • ALL : To review DG’s article on tips for growing veg / fruit
  • VJB : To speak with Dr. Wilson Secretary to postpone talk on COPD until later 2017
  • RH : Towrite up and distribute minutes
