Livingston- According to District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux, on April 3, 2012, Allen Martin, 25, of S. Montpeiler Street, Albany, LA, was sentenced to life in prison, for Aggravated Rape, 25 years with the department of corrections, for Second Degree Kidnapping, 10 years at hard labor for Armed Robbery, and 12 years for Aggravated Burglary.

Martin was convicted of these crimes by a jury of 12 on March 21, 2012.

Assistant District Attorney Charlotte Herbert represented the state, with Judge Robert Morrison presiding.

The state proved that Martin broke into the victim’s home, where she lived alone, on February 12, 2011. Armed with a knife, and the victim’s own gun, the defendant repeatedly raped the victim over a two hour period. Throughout this time, Martin continuously threatened the victim’s life.

Although Martin chose not to kill the woman at her home, he continued threatening her. He forced her to go with him to withdraw money from her bank, then to purchase cigarettes, and alcohol.

Martin was finally apprehended when he took the victim to a high-crime area to buy drugs. He was pulled over by a State Trooper who noticed that the vehicle’s tail light was out. The victim quickly told the officer what had happened. The Trooper immediately arrested Martin, who was still in possession of the victim’s cell phone. In the vehicle, police found the gun, the knife, and a large amount of ammunition.

The prosecution was able to present the defendant’s fingerprints found in the apartment, a 911 call recording, photos from the bank, and witness testimony to the jury.

Although the victim stated that she had never met Martin before, the Prosecution believed that the defendant had been stalking her for some time.

The life and Second Degree Kidnapping sentences are to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence, consecutively. The 10 year sentence resulting from Armed Robbery is also to be served without benefit, but concurrent with all other charges, said Perrilloux.
