MACHINE PITCH (ROOKIE) LOCAL RULES
- 10 fielders, can use “extra hitter(s)” to bat all players. All players should play in the field during each game. Players should be rotated to multiple positions when possible.
- On defense, one coach behind the plate, one in the outfield.
- In an effort to develop catchers, the catcher should throw the ball back to the pitcher. In order to keep the game moving, past balls and fouls can be retrieved by coach and the umpire can bring another ball into play.
- 90-minute time limit or 6 innings (don’t start new inning with less than 5 minutes remaining).
- 75-minute time limit for jamboree games.
- The ball will be declared dead when the defensive team contains the lead runner or the runner abandons the effort to advance.
- Maximum of 7 runs per inning by each team.
- Runners must slide at home plate if there is a play. Contact initiated by the runner at home plate will be considered an out.
- Substitution:
- All ten batters will bat in the lineup. Coaches will substitute players in defensively every inning or every other inning at a minimum. The only player that cannot be substituted out and back into that position will be the Pitcher.
- There are no paid scorekeepers, the scoreboard operation is the responsibility of the home team. Home team book is the official book. The official book will be handed to the Home team by the Umpire and collected back up by the Umpire. You can request a copy of the books at the concession stand and receive it on the next game or pick it up at City Hall. Home team must start the field clock
- Discussion with umpire will be limited to head coaches only.
- Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their parents and players.
- Base runners cannot leave the bases before the ball crosses the plate.
- Coaches on the field MUST be certified through
- Coaches on the field MUST also be certified on CDC Concussion
- Complete a Background Check
- Dugout person does not have to be certified.
- Team drinks are provided after every game.
- Team pictures: will be arranged by the League President prior to Opening Day so parents have them for the season.
5. Dress Code
●Players must wear their jersey.
●Players must be in GRAY baseball pants. Team jerseyand hat will be provided.
6. Parent Complaints
If parents or you as a coach have questions or concerns, you should address
them through the following chain of command:
a. Head Coach
b. Commissioner for your age division
c. Board Member
d. League President
7. Weather & Cancelations
A lightning detector system is installed next to the playground. When the lightning
is detected a flashing light above the tower is activated and a cluster of horns
will sound. When the detector is activated all players, coaches, parents, and
others must evacuate the park until the "all clear" signal is given (minimum
10 minutes; three short blasts on the horn will sound and the flashing light will
stop). No one is allowed to remain in the dugouts or any other area of the park.
Players are required to go to the parking lot and get into a vehicle. Coaches
are responsible for the safety of each player and must ensure every player is
evacuated. If lightning is detected more than once an evening, the current game
and all remaining games for the evening will be cancelled.
