Marketing Strategy

I am a qualified professional ceramicist producing work of the highest quality which is to be presented accordingly. I will frequently enter in group and award exhibitions thereby familiarising the public, galleries, organisations and others in my field of my current work.

I have a photographic record of all the work I have produced and a professional portfolio in which appropriate material is kept for presentation. I want to be seen as a friendly, approachable professional who is consistently reliable with a product which is of the highest quality.

At present most of my work has been sold to women. The majority being between the ages of 25 to 45. These customers usually have a moderate disposable income and they are buying gifts or decorative wares for the home. As I become known I hope to increase my cliental to include commission work and jobs for interior designers, architects, etc.

By the end of April I intend to submit slides to The Victorian Craft Council slide index. The slide index is considered a powerful promotional tool and is used as a resource by retailers, curators, architects, interior designers, collectors and the media.

During the year there are several award exhibitions I can submit work to such as the Alice Craft Acquisition in May 1995, the Gold Coast 17th National Ceramic Art award 1995. This is an excellent method to promote my work.

Pottery in Australia, a leading quarterly magazine for the ceramic medium is to "Focus on Victoria" in their August 1995 issue. I will be sending slides and information so as I can be included in this issue.

At the Studio Articles shop and agency there is a photograph and CV on display of all contributing artists. My card and phone number will be included with every sale of my work so that I can be contacted for commissions.

I have a professional portfolio of my work which I take to appointments with me. I also have a business card and my work has swing tags attached. Towards the end of the year I will be looking at colour brochures and postcards as a means of promotion.
